Does anyone know if the Gloria is supposed to be sung/recited on the Feast of St. Matthias in the Ordinary Form of the Roman Rite? Normally I would assume that the Gloria is used because both the Ordo and Sacramentary list his day as a Feast. However, the Ordo that I use does not indicate that a Gloria is used for the day. However, the IGRM # 53 states that the gloria is sung/recited on all Feasts. Yet, the Liturgy of the Hours does not list St. Matthias as a Feast. Also, different priests who have been consulted on this matter have responded differently. So, does anyone know anything definitive on the matter? My natural inclination is to use the Gloria because of the instruction in the IGRM. However, it is frustrating when the liturgical books that are in force don’t agree on something that ought to be quite simple.
