I am a Catholic and I worship alone in my room also. I am sure you know Jesus’ command to “go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father”. She is Catholic by the way, however it is a little complicated. Her mom is Catholic, dad is non-Catholic. But her dad allowed her to be baptized and raised Catholic. She attends both Catholic mass and her non-Catholic youth group called New Life Fellowship.

In the case of my friend, I completely trust her. She is not one who will lie about anything. She said that she saw the gold dust appearing on her hands and I believe her. My only question is, how could this have happened?** Is it, as she claims, a way God shows her that he loves her**?
No. It is nonsense. Jesus himself told us not to look for signs. We should follow his advice.

Naomi I am really surprised to see you here in this forum! Hope we maintain our platonic relationship always! 🙂 (Thanks inkaneer for giving me a hearty laugh on that one!)

At the moment I have no option but to believe what Naomi is saying. This indeed must be a sign from God.

Could you please tell me more about this, because I am not sure what you’re referring to.
Matt 16:4 You know then how to discern the face of the sky: and can you not know the signs of the times? A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign: and a sign shall not be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet. And he left them and went away.

I think it’s wrong to look for signs when this is motivated by a lack of faith… but if God decides to give someone a sign, simply for their encouragement, this could happen 🙂 I’ve had several ‘signs’ happen in my own life

Thistle, I don’t think we can interpret Matthew 16:4 to mean that we should avoid asking God for any kind of signs at all. Jesus said that to a wicked and adulterous generation; we are not that, we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation.

I know many people who have asked God for signs and God has granted them signs. For eg. in this testimony

biblechristiansociety.com/download/mp3/baptist_minister_becomes_priest.mp3

Fr. Gray Bean describes how he asked God for a sign to show him he was called to the priesthood.

Hi Naomi, 🙂

although I don’t think it’s the Church’s teaching that we’re already in Heaven with Christ (we - hopefully - go to Heaven when we die, and then our bodies are resurrected at the Last Judgement) - if what happened to you encouraged you in your faith, then I don’t see anything wrong with it 🙂
Hi Monica, the fact that we’re seated in heavenly realms is very much church teaching.

United with Christ by Baptism, believers already truly participate in the heavenly life of the risen Christ, but this life remains “hidden with Christ in God.” The Father has already “raised us up with him, and made us sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” Nourished with his body in the Eucharist, we already belong to the Body of Christ. When we rise on the last day we “also will appear with him in glory.” — CCC 1003

When the Church prays “our Father who art in heaven,” she is professing that we are the People of God, already seated “with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” and “hidden with Christ in God;” yet at the same time, “here indeed we groan, and long to put on our heavenly dwelling.”
[Christians] are in the flesh, but do not live according to the flesh. They spend their lives on earth, but are citizens of heaven. ---- CCC 2796

thanks for sharing this 🙂 I did not know! that is interesting… how is it different from being in Heaven?

And this glory glitter and gold dust incident had occurred thrice with me.
How did you happen to come across the term “glory dust?” I’m pushing 50 years old, and I’ve been on this and many forums for many years (beginning with usenet and Prodigy), and I’ve never heard this term until now.

It is surely not a term commonly used by Catholics. It just seems a bit odd that a Catholic would know this term.
