Glossa ordinaria

I am very passionate about the glossa! It is a medieval mega commentary on the Bible made up of quotes from the Church Fathers. Very little has been translated from Latin to English, but it is something that I have wanted to change! I would love to start a project on it, but would love to have others who are passionate about it too! I found a forum that was made for it that looks new. forumjar.com/forums/Glossa_Ordinaria

I just wanted to throw this thread out there for awareness and in the hopes that it sparks interest in one of the greatest Catholic works that is unfortunately not being used and appreciated as it needs to be because it has not been translated with the exception of Romans, Song of Songs, Ruth, and Lamentations.

Good for you. You might have trouble finding the translators, money and publisher. Maybe you could try first with one of the Gospels as a trial run. I appreciate it myself, and obtained a Latin copy after seeing that St. Thomas Aqinas for one well drew on it.

I only plan on making a free project out of it, I don’t plan to publish it other than provide what I do freely on the internet. I have actually started on it on the Aquinas Study Bible, and may even create a website only for the Glossa Ordinaria. I have a text of it in Latin, and fortunately it gives the location of where the citations are from, so I am able to go to those sources and get them directly. As the project gains momentum, I hope to later on down the road get translators to help feel the gaps where I cannot provide.

The Glossa Ordinaria is a treasure that I hate to see not get used!
