Gluton free host?

If I remember correctly, the priest also rubs his fingers over the cup prior to distributing it, lest any host fall from his fingers to the floor.

(At least, I’ve seen some do it :))

There will always be some of the host in the chalice, as the priest breaks off part of the host and places it in with the precious blood- the ‘Commingling’. Not many people notice this, but as an altar server I see it every time.

The priest only places the fraction in the main chalice. The other chalices, if any, should be free of any particles.
 
I got a reply from our Director of Liturgy got back to me and she is aware of this situation. The host were given to the mother by the parish and they are low gluton, so they are valid. She has posted a memo on the board for all the Service Ministers and Extraordinary Ministers to read about how to handle this.

I am glad that you were concerned enough to ask the right person and to make sure all who would need to know were given the information. It will (hopefully) stop any confusion later especially with the incidences of Priests and families trying to use such things as rice crackers as matter of communion!
