I think fatness can depend on your basic metabolism - which can change for many reasons. Is it a sin to be fat?
Yes. Unless offcourse one has a legitimate medical condition that contributes significantly to excessive weight gain.
When I was young I was as thin as a rake and could eat anything that came to hand in vast quantities without chaning my weight in any way. I am sure I committed the sin of gluttony because I would eat far more than my frame needed.
After four children I am older and a lot wider. My basic metabolism has changed and I eat rather less than half what I used to and weigh twice as much.
Being fat does not mean that I am a glutton. Whether I eat a lot or a little I neither gain nor loose weight. If I starve myself I can occasionally drop a pound or two but not more. So how am I sinning?
