(“They are like us now.” - The Lord to Adam and Eve) How are we as them with knowledge of right and wrong, and obviously the knowledge of death ever ominous. Who are they we are like now. The only way I can approach an answer is by thinking of which ‘us’ have been hounding the purist religious minds for a few thousand years, God and Satan? A gnostic is sort of like a negative Christian. He doesn’t necessarily cling to the idea of endless suffering as the only road to his salvation, but claims, somewhat as Christ, that this world is at host with many evil and unclean spirits. Some would go as far as to say that Christ’s crucifixion is the only thing which enables the ‘us’ to come to the earth actually. Hence the ‘two witnesses’ and what Christ called the ‘elect’. One of the witnesses takes the form of the ‘true and faithful witness, the beginning of the creation of God’ and the other is less faithful and true, but this isn’t important, as ‘The Lord of the Earth purpose is the only purpose.’ I don’t actually view the two witnesses as God and Satan, but having some symbolic association, as they might also ring true with Elijah and Moses, hence the ‘no rain’, and ‘water to blood’. Though Gnosticism is more negative, they alleviate this misery of negativism by saying ‘I was born into guilt from my parents sin, and I am reasonable person, but since I am here, I became firmiliar with an unreasonable world, and it isn’t my fault, at least not completely.’ It also has a sort of make me free or kill me attitude.
