Because of the recent press about the DaVinci Code, I’ve been reading multiple articles, one most recent about the Gospel of Judas. If I understand this Gnostic Gospel correctly – Judas was releasing Jesus from what the Gnostic’s believe was “evil human flesh” by causing Jesus to die. So Judas was not the betrayer us Christians like to believe.
On the other hand, the DaVinci Code mentions writings of Mary Magdalene, what I am also assuming is also a Gnostic gospel, which claims a relationship with Mary. Did the Gnostics believe Jesus was crucified or not? How does Mary come into the picture? Am I confusing two theories?
