Or so said St Thomas Aquinas, with good theological and philosophical basis.

What kind of satisfaction was Aquinas referring to? Is such satisfaction ever attainable in our day-to-day life or has it lost its relevance?

Cogito Aquinas dixit ut nulla satisfactio invenitur a nobis, infelicibus Filiis Evae, in hac transienti vita, vantitatum tenebrarumque, tam inane. Satisfactio est inveni nonnisi ultra hoc mundo, et, ergo, in Eo qui est totaliter inaccessibilis et invisibilis, Qui appellamus “Deus”. Et cur non, mi amici?

Saints and mystics throughout the world have experienced the joy of being united with God who alone satisfies our need and longing for perfect love which was demonstrated so overwhelmingly by Jesus when He submitted to torture and death for us on the Cross. It is always relevant and always attainable if we follow His example by loving everyone…
