I’ve recently been in a lull, not necessarily growing spiritually actively, but not going backwards either. Things in my life have been pretty smooth, and quite glorious in fact, all praise and thanks to God. I am still praying, worshipping, honoring, praising God. For this, I believe that the other side has been waiting to work on me.
However, recent days/week have challenged me. There are a couple situations that should be super simple to fix, and in the past, would have vexed me, ruined my day/week/holidays, due to the difficulties where literally almost everything that could go wrong with it, is. People handling it and helping me are alternately wonderful or rude and unhelpful.
After a particular moment on Tuesday, in the midst of all of it, I could have easily snapped, EASILY, and it would have seemed justified. Instead, I chose to praise Him in this storm, and even thank Him. I did ‘flare’ a couple of moments, but restrained myself from taking it out on others. Another episode almost occurred…I was returning the previous homeowner’s antique china, in a bag that I thought was quite sturdy. As I went to get it and get out of the car, the bag completely ripped and tore, spilling the china all OVER the…seat. Yes, the seat. A moment later, it would have shattered all over the concrete driveway, and both of us would have been sick about it. I truly believe that God took care me of that one.
And who thanks God for the bag ripping and spilling in the car? The one who it could have happened to where it would break instead.
I’m so thankful that despite the challenges, and the possibility of anger and even hate, that I stayed faithful to our Lord, and turned to Him not just for help and support, but in praise and prayer. He helped me keep it in perspective #firstworldproblems , #richpeopleproblems (I’m not rich, but if I was poor, or homeless, I’d call it rich people problems).
I know that this was all Him; only a couple years ago, I would have never made it past the continuation of the first incident (over a week now, very long and involved story with a home warranty company), then the second incident has in the past (similar one) driven me so far past the edge that not only was my day/week ruined, so was anyone’s who dealt with me. It’s only the GRACE of our Savior that this didn’t happen. His Love and Peace in my heart, even in the small things (comparatively), make me better. AMEN AMEN AMEN
(Okay, TBH, I also wanted to remain in a good mood for evening with friends, and had a drink waiting for me later that evening, but never could have done it without Him.)
