What is the quality that we today MOST lack? Gratitude!

As perfectly explained by Dennis Prager here:

Do you agree?

Most people today walk around thinking they’re “entitled” to something they don’t have; and that they’re “victims of society” and “misunderstood” by society. People need to be taught Gratitude. Gratitude is the medicine for Nihilism.

I’m from Europe and I’m very sad to see, everywhere around me, people bashing my country and calling everything corrupt and evil. “Politics is vile”… “politicians are wh*res”… “the State is our enemy”… I think that kind of cynicism is the very root of all evil. Can we look at history and see how much Good has been accomplished?

I will express my own gratitude. Thank the Lord for great governments and their often good judgement, good order and their peace-keeping means and their justice, thank you for my country and for the EU.

Never in history we had so much rights, so much freedoms. History obviously progresses towards more freedom - compare the 21th century with the 20th, the 20th with 19th, the 18th with the Middle Ages and so forth. - I’m proud of us, and thankful for Lord’s Providence ! I see His majestic work in politics too, and in today’s Governments. Never have been so many mouths fed and so many people living in prosperity. Say what you want about Global Capitalism, but this is a fact. I’m not saying it’s perfect. I’m saying let’s look at the facts. Never in history were so many people living in prosperity, happiness and freedom.

Of course criticism is not ONLY welcome, but our OBLIGATION as good citizens. We should always criticize the State. But many people (especially on the Left) just point the finger of reproach and attack with venomous remarks of how we’re “enslaved” by the “global elite”, etc. while never we had so much freedom as we do today!

Thank God for taxes, you who are able to pay them - have a job - are blessed and you should feel gratitude that you can contribute to God’s work.

“Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. For he is God’s servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God’s servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.” (Romans 13)

What do you think? God bless you all.

I think the issue is not “government or freedom”, but the attempt to establish the “right kind of government” and that requires not only an obligation to criticize, but to rebel, fore without the spirit to rebel, the wrong kind of government goes unfettered and reigns eternally. What would be the state of affairs if the Israelites had not rebelled in the way they did? What would be the state of Jesus had not rebelled in the way that he did? They were both examples of rebellion, not merely criticism.

I whole heartedly agree that chaotic rebellion, accusing, and cheating, is NOT the best way to go about improving things, but until the proper way is given voice, those old formulas for change, though crude, are effective. No one is giving the proper way for improvement a voice, because no one is listening for it. No one is properly praying for it. Everyone already has their favorite opinion and seeks no more but defends what he has. But then that is what causes the governance to become despot and tyrannical.

If the government doesn’t know how to govern properly yet demands its right to treat people as their beasts of burden and the people have no idea of how the government really should be formed, then what can they do but complain in rebellion until a government is finally establish that inspires no such rebellion?

Look at the way Man treats animals that do not rebel. He goes to extremes attempting to gain more from less and abuses the animals to extremes until ***someone ***complains and rebels against his abuse. Should the Jews have merely politely gone along with Hitler? He had the authority.

There really IS a better way, but you are not looking for it nor are others, else you and they wouldn’t be here telling us of our sins, but rather asking, inquiring, proposing, probing, and humbly praying (seeking of the Holy). Thus that rebellion of which you speak is not merely the error of others, but the result of your own lack of proper action, an error of your own make and that of the very governance being rebelled against.

Several Years ago as I was reading the Old Testament, a lot of what I read reminded me of the laws that our government have. The laws that our government is based on is in the Bible. Note that I said “based on” and not “are”. We are no longer in Jesus time; however, we still should try to live in todays world still making the Bible our bases for our lives. We are human and we are going to make mistakes. It is what we do with those mistakes.
