God and the 10 commandments

One of God’s commandments is to not kill. Later, we see that he say to the Israelites that they need to fight for the promised land. We see David killing Goliath, Sansón killing several persons and we even see Saul without God’s favor because he didn’t eliminate completely its enemies. Seems a contradiction to me. Can you please elaborate on this topic? Thank you and I appreciate the feedback.
 
From what I’ve read, it can also be translated ‘thou shalt not murder’

So, killing in battle/self-defense is justified
 
This is a premise often brought up by atheists in their argument against God. It is purely from human logic and perspective.

God is not governed by his commandments. He made them for humans. He is not human. He is a creator - he gives and takes away lives according to his pleasure. He lives in a world that’s different from ours. What we see as death, may not be so, for God.

  2. The oldest trick in the book is to say “God told me to do it.”
    I doubt whether God actually did even in the OT.
