All right, Reaching Faith. I’ll give you a specific example of how the atheists completely ignore very good points of the believers.
But empther, you also have this behaviour don’t you?

Nothing can bring itself into being and nothing can pre-exist itself in order to bring itself into being
All that really needs to be done is to postulate an entity that can fit the requirement. There is such an entity: reason.

The same entity, curiously, that starts John: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Anybody who wasted his time analyzing ridiculous claims like the following has not self-respect… and few still functioning brain cells.

Greylorn, in post # 15, said

God came into being from a collision between dark energy and a different kind of substance, aeon.
Quote:
God did not make everything from nothing. He made it from dark energy.

If anybody bothered to read through Portofino;s long post #39

could you fail to notice that he never mentioned the impossibility of an infinite regression; an infinite past;;;;;;;

— which is how Aquinas proved there’s a God in the first place, there had to be
— which is how we all know there had to be a God, eternal, outside time, unchanging,
— which has been thoroughly discussed on the forums for years,
— I even started a thread on the subject myself
— but Portofino completely ignores the point because it cancels out his agnosticism?

Why, then, would I or anybody bother to analyze post 39 ?

Howdy, there, empther (nice moniker, reminds me of “empathy” or “empathic”).
empther stands for Empress Theresa, a story I’ve been working on since 1994,

Anybody who tries to steal my story is going to have a hard time explaining why I’ve been using empther as a nickname since 2004.

It is a seeming impossibility – a logical paradox. What came before the beginning of the universe is another paradox (“how can there have been anything before the beginning”).

I disagree both with those non-believers who would be so foolhardy to maintain that there are no mysteries in the universe, and those believers – foolhardy or not – who would maintain that a conscious Creator-God is the obvious answer.

Empress Theresa is an interesting subject. I know very little about her, except that Frederick the Great of Prussia had severely underestimated her.

My story is nothing about the historical Empress Theresa…

It is a work of fiction that takes place in present day America, ( and also England and North Korea ). The main character is a girl named Theresa, aged 18 to 19.
She is referred to as “Empress Theresa” in the book, and the “World Empress”, and “the right hand of God”.

But she is underestimated. OPEC among others underestimate her to their regret. As the Israeli Prime Minister warns: “Those who challenge Theresa Hartley’s power are fools. She could destroy the world. Don’t push her too far.”
