God answering prayer..........How does God do it ? Does God do it?

I totally get you on this, I cried after Alfie Evans and after this, both of which I had been praying for. I just want to say thank you for posting this!! Sometimes it feels like we are alone in our prayers or disappointments but your post reminded us we aren’t.
In the end, we have to realize that prayer is about our relationship with God more than it is about getting what we want no matter how good or pure that intention is. I once heard someone give a talk about his kid almost dying and when he was praying to God he said “even if you take my child away i’ll still love you.” We don’t always understand why things happen. I’m sure people felt similarly with Roe v Wade, yet there are millions of prolife women who constantly support young mothers through pregnancy resource centers. I think these events really encourage us to make a difference in our daily lives. I also agree that this is also a test of our faith as well.

If God doesn’t answer my prayer in the way I wanted it then common sense says He didn’t answer it. What’s so hard about understanding and accepting that fact. I have questioned many believers as to listing a few prayer requests that were definitely answered in their life. All I get in response is silence.

The reason God doesnt answer prayer the way you want it answered is simple, there is an effect to all answered prayer. Let me use an example. If I want to go in the military to serve my country but I cant because of some medical issue like a bad heart, is that bad heart there because God wants to see me suffer or because he has other plans for my life. How do i know that if I didnt have that bad heart, that joining the military could be the end of my life in a few years. It may be all gung ho at first but once on that battle field it can be over like that or i could open the door to something else i couldnt handle. If God already saw all that from the beginning of the world, but decided something different for you instead why should you be angry. Maybe God wants you alive to see you have kids and help others cause he has plans for them in there lives but if you would have gotten killed on that battle field… . Note im using this as an example but its something to think about.

I’ve had prayer answered instantly - two seconds after praying.
That was real eye opening.
I’ve had prayer - that took years to be answered.
And of course, prayer that was denied.

The most important part is - that YOU - actually prayed -
That you cared enough about something - to clue God in too.
I think God would like “ to be part “ of someone’s plans - than ignored, yet helping them.

I think that for God to influence the collective choice of a community is actually a huge prayer, not a small one like for personal health or delivery.
The thing is Jesus did say that having faith in Him will be hard not easy and that He is interested in people choosing freely. So it is no surprise that He lets people vote whatever they like. A permissive law does not mean Christians can have abortions.

I second that. I would not give up on Irish Christians. People who are set on having abortions will do it anyway regardless of whether it is legal or not. Maybe there is silver lining too, as Christians will take their faith more seriously now that this law has passed.

If you are talking about personal prayer requests, yes 3 times in my life I prayed and something big was granted. The details are not important, but I don’t go around praying for relief at every turn, it has to be something where I or somebody close to me is at the tipping point and there is no other option.
