Eternal God , in whom mercy is endless,
and the treasury of compassion inexhastible ,
look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us ,
that in difficult moments we might not despair
nor become despondent , but with great confidence ,
submit ourselves to Your Holy Will ,
which is love and mercy itself . Amen

Memorare (Prayer to Our Lady)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me

:gopray:

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Your Name
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the Kingdom
and the Power
and the Glory for ever and ever.
Amen
~
O my God, leaning on your great power and your promises, I hope with a firm reliance obtain forgiveness of my sins, the help of Thy grace and eternal life, through the merits of Jesus Christ my Savior.
Amen

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Every time I see the heading for this post, I think/pray for a former daughter-in-law. May Jesus fill her heart and the hearts of all who cannot let go of hurts be healed and may they learn to put the feelings of others ahead of their own.

Holy Michael the Archangel defend us in the day of battle.
Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host,
by the Power of God,
thrust down to hell satan and all the wicked spirits,
who wander through the world for the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Remember, O most loving Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession and was left forsaken. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand, a sorrowful sinner. Despise not my words, O Mother of the Word, but in your mercy, hear and answer me.
Amen

Wow. They never cease to amaze me. I am above nothing and no one, this I know.
And still I cannot fathom intentional meaness and the inability to see how it hurts others.

Lord, please open their eyes, their minds, their souls.

In thinking of “mean people” I kind of think of Purgatory.

Sometimes the only way of getting mean people to become less mean is to get their attention. Shock them into the realities of how hard a shell they have around their souls. When some people are very sensitive they don’t have such a hard shell. They suffer sometimes because of their sensitivity.

On the other hand, someone who is truly mean is sometimes very hard hearted. If they don’t try to find out how to confront the insensitivity they have now on this earth, it will probably need to be melted away in the fires of purgatory.

Depending upon the degree of insensitivity, purgatory may be the only thing that will change them. Some people just have that tendency and nothing changes it on earth. They see a poor person and immediately think “It’s their fault. They should get a job.” Or they may see that a senior citizen died, and their thought is “It’s about time. They were around too long as it is.” They can’t understand another’s pain and have no empathy. These are the people who don’t care if horses are brutally slaughtered or babies are aborted. They just don’t feel anything. Feeling anything at all would help to understand another’s pain. Being mean is all they know. Maybe they will someday understand where their meanness came from and why they are that way.

May God bless absolutely everyone, if one is going to be Catholic than they should be catholic.

True. I am frustrated because I keep thinking I can be the person who, through Him, can help to soften the hearts of some mean people. Some day, maybe, and meanwhile, there is prayer.

“Oh, my Jesus,”, since it was Jesus Who taught us to pray “Our Father…”, than it would be not just “my Jesus” but “our Jesus”.

“Forgive us our sins,”, us, not just some of us.

“Save us from the fires of Hell,”, save us, not necessarily keep us from the fires of hell but save us from the fires of hell.

“Lead all souls to Heaven,”, sounds self-explanatory to me.

“Especially those most
In need of thy mercies.”, I would say that praying for those most in need of Thy Mercy would, or at least should, include those less in need which would mean praying for all of those in need of Thy Mercy which is one of the prayer offered at Mass.
