A TOTALLY PLAUSIBLE SCENARIO

Somewhere deep inside the Vatican:

“Gentlemen!! We have a serious problem on our hands!”

“Whuzzat, guv?” (Cardinals and bishops, in private, all call each other ‘guv’. Little known fact.)

“They finally got us. A dissident group, something we have never ever had the experience of, has demanded that we change the 2000 year old doctrine of the Eucharist.”

(Gasps of horror all around)

“Guv, whuzzis this diss… dissa… dissapodent groups’ name?”

“‘We Are Church’”

“Guv? Who is church?”

“We are, or… I mean, they is. They is church. Or rather what I mean to say is they is We Are Church.”

“They isn’t We Are Church!! We are we are church… right guv?”

“I know Larry, I know. But they say we have hierarchical monopoly.”

“WHAT! I don’t even like that game!! It’s so long and boring, and we lost the little dog piece anyway, eh guv?”

“Larry, I know more than anyone our generalized contempt for Monopoly, a diabolic waste of time if there ever was one. But by appending the hard to pronounce word ‘hierarchical’ in front of it, they have totally confused us, and now, in our confused and bewildered state, let us pronounce new doctrine: FROM NOW ON, THE EUCHARIST WILL NO LONGER BE CONSIDERED THE REAL PRESENCE OF CHRIST, BUT WILL RATHER BE CONSIDERED THE REAL PRESENCE OF WILLIAM SHATNER… ALL WHO DISAGREE, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA.”
Code:
Somewhere deep inside California, or whereever:

"Sunshine, Moonspirit, come quick! The bishops caved in! The 'hierarchical' thing worked! Hoorah! Hoorah for hierarchical, and hoorah for WILLIAM SHATNER!!"

THE END

I read this as soon as I got on the internet.

If I don’t see anything about Transubstantiation in any of the documents coming out the synod I will presume someone agrees with this group. Espically since the synod is about the Eucharist.

But… for some reason I don’t see that happening.

Then again in the “Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy” you won’t find any mention of “Transubstantiation” which was a big deal at one time… I was happy to hear our Holy Ecumenical Pontiff talk about it during WYD.
