Typically this would be a “count your blessings” type of post.
But the blessings are immeasurable. I can’t begin to count them.
  1. Simply: there was a time when I did not exist. Now I am. I live and breathe and am beginning to know Christ. I was once nothing. Now I live to have a relationship with God. All of it is beyond grasping and is inexplicable, and is pure gift. Even though he needs nothing, God created me out love. God made me so that he might love me and I might love him in return.
  2. I have failed miserably at many things, yet God is still here knocking at the door. He’s wiped every sin away and asks me to love him and his people in response. All the shame and guilt is nothing compared to Christ’s victory. I have an opportunity to witness to his love, and the invitation to respond to him is better than boats or cars or cash or prestige.
God loves us.

Because you count your blessings and not your sorrows. You see the good and not the bad. That is called love.

Agreed. I just joined the Church this past Easter. I am awestruck by the mercy God has had on me to draw me into the Church, to be baptized and confirmed. I am deeply grateful for the sacrament of Reconciliation and the Eucharist. I am amazed at the hour of mercy, and of Divine Mercy Sunday which would be practically like being baptized again if a person meets all the conditions. The changes I feel and see the Holy Spirit making in me are proof to me of God’s work in my life, because the changes are profound and not something I could have done myself. I am grateful for the Church, for our priests, for scripture, for prayer. I have recently begun participating in Eucharistic Adoration and it is a miracle to know I can sit mere feet away from Our Lord. I am grateful for my Guardian Angel, for the prayers of the Saints, for the prayers of the holy souls in Purgatory. I am grateful to know about Purgatory and to know I need to be praying for the souls there. I am grateful for answered prayers, and for times where I know that but for a miracle of God I would have been badly injured or killed. I am grateful to be developing a relationship with Our Lady, and to have a deeper understanding of the role of the Holy Spirit. I could go on and on. The Lord has been truly good and wonderful to me.

Thank you ‘clem456’ for your wonderful testimony about God’s goodness. Sometimes we so easily focus on the bad and forget about the good things the Lord works in our lives. I am so grateful for all the Lord has done and will do for me, even in the trying times.

It is very important never to lose sight of that, Clem. Always keep “gratitude in your attitude.”

Thank God everywhere and always for everything.

I love threads such as this! Too many of us forget that every day, every moment is a gift from Our Lord.

And as every gift we receive, our response should be…

Thank You!!!

I think that’s awesome man. I really do.

Peace.

I really hate to kill the buzz, but I feel that it would definitely be good to say this to you; enjoy these high moments, for they may not always be as great as they are now. While a life of faith is filled with joy and hope, it can just as easily be filled with frustration and despair, just like that suffered by Jesus himself.

I find that those new to the faith usually posses a somewhat envious amount of joy from God, while those who have been beleivers for decades may eventually forget how great God really is. Living with God is a marriage itself, and just like any other marriage, it has it ups and downs. Newlyweds are often much more “in-love” and excited of their relationship than those celebrating their 50th anniversary.

Just some food for thought. I myself have been at both the heights of the world to the shallows of the dirt, and everywhere in between. But the important thing is, I’ve been to all these places with God. Such is the journey that makes us better Catholics.

God bless!
