God hates certain people?

The Old Testament I read talks about a God who gives everything to man he could ever want yet man keeps disobeying him.

Adam has it made in the shade but nooooo, he has to eat the fruit. Abraham is promised descendants but nooooooo, he has to go to plan B and impregnate his wife’s servant. All the Isrealites have to do is blow the trumpets but nooooo, they have to make thier own battle plans, make alliances with every pagan nation and taking pagan wives as part of the alliance deal.

God parted the Red Sea and destroyed Pharoah but nooooooo, they had to make a calf and demand meat. God was their king and dwelt among them, learding them in person and going before them as their king in battle but nooooooo…

Therefore all the elders of Israel came in a body to Samuel at Ramah and said to him, “Now that you are old, and your sons do not follow your example, appoint a king over us, as other nations have, to judge us.” Samuel was displeased when they asked for a king to judge them. He prayed to the LORD, however, who said in answer: "Grant the people’s every request. It is not you they reject, they are rejecting me as their king. As they have treated me constantly from the day I brought them up from Egypt to this day, deserting me and worshiping strange gods, so do they treat you too. (1 Samuel 8:4-8)

And who is to say that God won’t or hasn’t stepped aside and let a bunch of spoiled brats like us have our way so that we could learn a lesson or two since then, we who are so smart with so many iPods and iPads. I recall a nation which held 4.5 million men, women and children in slavery until the 622,000 corpses piled up and a man Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation. And who’s to say that God isn’t being patient with us now while we slap him in the face with contraceptives and butcher the babies that actually do manage to make it to conception. 🤷

I don’t know what versions or translations anyone else is reading, or what books of the Old Testament may have been added or removed from anyone elses Bible but the God I read about in the Old Testament in my Bible is so patient, compassionate, and caring while Solomon has 600 wives and solomon’s son burns his own children in sacrifice to the god Molech. Is our pornographic, sexaholic, abortion on demand culture any different. And is the God of the Old Tesament a different God from the New Testament?

The church explicitly calls heresy the doctrine that God is different in the NT as the OT.

This is what Marcion taught. :hypno:

On God hating people, ill admit I was taken aback by the OP’s quote because were used to hearing hate the sin but love the sinner. eg God hates divorce.

I found quoted by the NT in Romans the line God hated Esau, and being unchanging, he still does and will for all eternity in Hell. After all, these are the people who rejected God. Esau thought so lowly of God he sold his birthright for a bowl of porridge (or its 2100 BC equivelent). 😃

His inability to change would be problematic for me. I also consider him the epitome of a human Father open to my persuasion. I suppose my granting the request that diverts from the future course could be simply a dimensional shift that accommodates my request.

If he truly hated them he probably wouldn’t have made them, He no doubt hated what they(sinners) did, but if He truly hated them He certainly wouldn’t have sent His Son to die for them.
Yes, that’s true, he killed them, then he killed his son because he loved them.
Yeah, He gave them Life and took it away.
Yes. God can do anything and it becomes right.
Will God not have mercy on the least and most innocent of His Human creation?
…apparently not.
That presupposes that God can change, witch supposes that For God there was a time before where He wasn’t Loving, but since God exists outside of Time this is problematic. Besides if He truly didn’t Love us, Why create and allow people to reject Him?
So he could kill them?

No, I didn’t say God doesn’t love us. He does now. Jesus reconciled us to God. Didn’t he?
This is not about God changing, it’s about his relationship with us changing. Would anyone say Jesus didn’t change God’s relationship with us?
Perhaps, but as i said before, The idea that God would hate anything that He made, or Change somehow is at best problematic.
Well, then, the fact that he killed them all without hating them is equally problematic. So too, the theory that Jesus did not change God’s relationship with us.
And who is to say that God won’t or hasn’t stepped aside and let a bunch of spoiled brats like us have our way so that we could learn a lesson or two since then, we who are so smart with so many iPods and iPads. Fine. God is a patient, kind, loving God who sometimes kills us all. This is what you are saying. Alright.
