God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good

Yes, it is sinful, but the case you mention would not be grave matter and not a mortal sin so that due to it you wouldn’t have to refrain from receiving Holy Communion. I recommend that you go to confession and confess venial sins, as that will help you to receive God’s grace and overcome the bad habits such as lying and cheating. That way you can form your conscience and by avoiding minor occasions, you become stronger and will find it easier to overcome bigger temptations later on. It seems to me that you have a delicate conscience and that is good, so long as it doesn’t become scrupulous which involves finding sins where there are none. The best way to avoid sin is to achieve a personal relationship of friendship with Jesus and this by means of primary and penance, offering small sacrifices to the Lord who loves you and whom you love every day.

Yes I have a tendency to be pretty scrupulous, thank you for your insight! 😊

Dear …

I think it would help you to meditate on c. 15 of the Gospel of St. Luke
which has the Parable of the Prodigal Son and others in the same Gospel. As
a person who has a close relationship with Jesus as a friend who is always
near and offers us all the grace we need to achieve holiness, you will
probably realize that you will do the right things without becoming
scrupulous. You could go to confession perhaps once a month and hopefully,
you can find a good priest and go back to him again and again. Don’t forget
the three conditions for a sin to be mortal: grevious matter, full
knowledge, and full consent.

May the Lord bless you and guide you and Our Lady lead you.
