What are some Scripture Verses which support God as Love in context with the rest of the chapter or book?

God is love only appears in place in the whole of Scripture.

1 John 4: 7Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. 10 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

The context is that God’s love for us is expressed in that He sent Christ for us when we did not love Him.

I am not sure to what end you are asking this so I will not comment further. However if you could further explain why you wish to know where in the Bible it says this and what you mean by “in context with the rest of the book” I will be happy to help if I can.

God Bless

ENCYCLICAL LETTER
DEUS CARITAS EST
OF THE SUPREME PONTIFF
BENEDICT XVI
TO THE BISHOPS
PRIESTS AND DEACONS
MEN AND WOMEN RELIGIOUS
AND ALL THE LAY FAITHFUL
ON CHRISTIAN LOVE
  1. “God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him” (1 Jn 4:16).
These words from the First Letter of John express with remarkable clarity the heart of the Christian faith: the Christian image of God and the resulting image of mankind and its destiny.
In the same verse, Saint John also offers a kind of summary of the Christian life: “We have come to know and to believe in the love God has for us”.
We have come to believe in God’s love: in these words the Christian can express the fundamental decision of his life.
Being Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty idea, but the encounter with an event, a person, which gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction.
Saint John’s Gospel describes that event in these words: “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should … have eternal life” (3:16).
In acknowledging the centrality of love, Christian faith has retained the core of Israel’s faith, while at the same time giving it new depth and breadth.
The pious Jew prayed daily the words of the Book of Deuteronomy which expressed the heart of his existence:
“Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord, and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your might” (6:4-5).
Jesus united into a single precept this commandment of love for God and the commandment of love for neighbour found in the Book of Leviticus:
“You shall love your neighbour as yourself” (19:18; cf. Mk 12:29-31).
Since God has first loved us (cf. 1 Jn 4:10), love is now no longer a mere “command”; it is the response to the gift of love with which God draws near to us.

None more so than John Chapter six: the Bread of Life Discourse.

I have othen pondered wich for God was more evident of God’s love for us:

Christ Birth; Life; Passion and Death and Ressurectio; or: …

John 6:40-55

[40] For this is the will of my Father, that every one who sees the Son and believes in him should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day." The Jews then murmured at him, because he** said, “I am the bread which came down from heaven.”** They said, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does he now say, `I have come down from heaven’?” [Humanism] Jesus answered them, “Do not murmur among yourselves. No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life.** I am the living bread which came down from heaven;** if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever;** and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh.” [52] The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.* For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. *** WOW!

God becomming man; like us in every way but sin is HUGE! Nearly incomprehensible.

God willing to beome for us our SPIRITUAL nourishment; taking the form of Bread and Wine, so as to not frighten us and to stay physically in our midst; to endure abject nelect and daily abuse not for three years; BUT FOREVER! To become our Food!, Our Drink!..To become an innamiate object; SADLY an object of ridicule.

Only extrodianry love; a love that we can try to emulate; but shall never duplicate; can allow this to happen. MY LORD AND MY GOD! Why have you NOT abandoned me 🤷

a GREATER Love is not possible! ❤️

Thank you Jesus!

We can also infer that God is love from non biblical concepts, such as the concept that God is love just for the simple fact that he created us out of love. God did not have to create us. He is God after all, perfectly happy, perfectly fine, but he chose to create us human beings, and he did this out of love!

And then we can look at the person of Jesus. He died for us… He did not have to, but chose to, why did he do this? He did it… out of Love! 🙂
