God is NOT as concerned with Individuals as people want to think

Oh I wine when the church doors are locked now…hehehehe…ok its ok, I know its hard when you want to believe something, then I come with proof that its not true.

And as far as this Jehovahs witness God I am describing…umm well mabey being born and raised Jehovahs witness has something to do with that.

I am willing to bet that you HAVE something that makes you feel God loves you individualy…well what is it? a nice family…a home…a job??? go ahead tell this jehovahs witness convert what you have?

I laugh because I want to believe it
but I know its not true. Its to good to be true. Mabey I need to wine outside more churches LOL

ok so now seriously. is this all you have? You just stand there and speak for God, are you a prophet?
when did God tell you that he loves deformed babys?..oh you just asumed he dose because it sounds good.

This love for mankind is not pretend love…God gave his only Son for it.

I may have wined outside of that church…but atleast I can prove a point. And I don’t sit there and try to speak for God with nothing to back me up.
We’re all to be prophets of God, in the true sense of the word, witnesses to Jehovah and what He’s done for us, especially in the New Covenant where we become adopted sons and He writes His laws on each of our hearts and in our minds. We’re groups or communities of individuals who come together because of the common bond of faith in God and the testimonies of what He’s done in us. The Holy Spirit descended on individuals at Pentecost. He can only work in and thru individuals. Group love just doesn’t work.

You seem to have a couple of issues. One is with the “problem of the Church”. I agree with you that we can stand improvement in certain areas. We should be more unified in our faith (faith, like love, is another part of the individuals’ relationship with God), for one thing and more open to each other for another, but none of that need be an obstacle-just something that needs work.

The other issue is apparently the “problem of evil”. And here I don’t see how Gods’ loving us as individuals vs. loving mankind in a general way, “excuses” God from being held responsible for allowing evil. Either way, situations occur which He could prevent or change but doesn’t and He either loves us or He doesn’t in spite of this fact.

For myself, I do OK, other than that I struggle to pay bills and my health ain’t so great and no one in life avoids suffering and death. But none of that matters-God doesn’t distinguish between classes or genders or any other types of people. Rather people, themselves, are the ones who make the distinction and decide whether or not to follow Him.

You ask if I’m a prophet (mouthpiece) for God. Are you a prophet for the poor and suffering? Can you speak for them-as to their faith? I’m just echoing thousands of years of Church faith and teaching. Nobody has to believe me-I’m nothing –but we have the voices of martyrs and saints as well as everyday believers and catechisms and encyclicals and ECFs, and if you do more research there and keep seeking God in prayer and whatever way you can, I’m convinced you’ll eventually believe differently. But I tell you what, when I get time I’ll review more of your proofs. If you’d like me to look sooner, I covet your prayers to get me out of jury duty this morning-or even if you don’t want me to look. BTW, the use of scripture as part of ones “arsenal” means nothing until it’s been filtered through the sieve of the Church’s teaching authority.

The faith of the strongest believers in our history doesn’t falter when God doesn’t answer a prayer for a good parking space. It doesn’t even falter when God takes their life or allows suffering-it tends to grow, in fact.

glad you said that, that is exactly what I don’t believe. For one this is not an infalible teaching…it can’t be.

And number two, I should not need Saint Augustines quote “IF”
God Loves me that much individualy. Because “I” should feel it personaly.

Dose your child say " I know dady loves me because OTHER kids say there dads love them?"

Ok so I have been responding to many of these posts…why not respond to what I just said in my last post.

I think you must ignore what I said in my last post to continue to believe this. If you need more to believe me…I got plenty more.

But why not respond to my last post…I would like to hear it.
Yet another “post (ex-) protestant”, sola-fidei totin’, “I don’t need no CHURCH to tell me nothin’ 'cause I FEELs it in my BONES!” kinda pseudo-quasi-self-professed-as-but-self-defined-not-a Catholic with delusions of Pope-hood!

Have fun in your church, “Excellency”! 🙂

Excaliber, it sounds like you can’t reconcile God’s love for individuals because of the problem of suffering. Perhaps these will help: an article and a talk by Dr. Peter Kreeft, Catholic apologist and professor of Philosophy.

Article: What is God’s Answer to Human Suffering?

Audio: Making Sense Out of Suffering

How long are you going to reject God’s love for you? When you die and are face to face with the most awesome, most powerful love that ever was and ever will be, are you going to reject it then, too? 😦

What do I have that makes me feel God loves me individually? It definitely isn’t based on the family, a home or a job. Those things are indeed blessings, but my I don’t place my hope in them.

God makes me feel loved by reminding me always that this world is not my home. I am only here for a short time, a blink of an eye in light of forever, and I just get this one chance to prove my love for Him and others.

God loves me so much that I get to touch Him every time I go to communion. What other rich and powerful king would allow a poor wretch of a commoner to touch him other than a king with great love?

God loves me so much that even when I was a horrid sinner, He called me to a conversion so deep that I pray every day that I never go back to what I was.

God loves me so much that on occasion in prayer, He gives me little glimpses of what Heaven may be like by giving me just a small taste of the love we will experience in Heaven.

Your concept of God is WAY too small if you think anything is too good to be true with God.
Ok I will see what this person has to say…I am mostly interested in what God says though, I like scripture…or an infalible tradition.
In 2000 years, You should be able to find solid proof…if there is any.

but I will read your link, and see what this man has to say on the subject.

You say I am rejecting Gods love??
Ok well simply tell me EXACTLY what I rejected…which scripture?

There is “NOTHING TOO REJECT”
God has never said this to me…which he could have…through a scripture…or something.

You guys are telling me how YOU feel about God. But when I was a Jw…I actualy did think God Loved me as an individual…I thought I was blessed to be able to preach from door to door…I thought I was blessed to be a Ministerial Servant in the Jehovahs witness Church…
I thought god loved me to death when my aplication to serve at the world head quarters of Jehovahs witnesses was accepted.

I spent most of my life “THINKING” I was special to God.

I spent the last year realizing that I was not special enuff to be saved from a cult, untill after that cult was done using me…and trust me this cult aint done untill there aint nothin left.

Ok so all that praying, and waking up thinking about God…and going to sleep thinking about God…and dedicating my life to the organization that seemed to represent him…There was no doubt that “I LOVED HIM”.
But I was allowed to eat spiritual poison my whole life…I just so happened to stumble across a catholic website. then stumble through church…trying to figure it all out on my own. None of all that matters because converts are a non factor untill september.
Then we are all grouped together.
Keep in mind there is only one priest for groups of churches…ITS
IMPOSSIBLE for each individual member to get the attention they need.
This Individual Love is Impossible acording to the facts.

But I will read your link anyway.

Excaliber,

You might “whoa nelly” me again for saying this, but you need to step back and “whoa nelly” your own thinking and the state of your soul.

What CatsAndDogs says is harsh, but it’s exactly where you’re going with your liberal thinking. Instead of accepting in obedience the teaching of the Church, you are setting up your own opinions and false reasonings above God’s truth.

Every faithful Catholic in this thread has said repeatedly that you are wrong about God’s love, yet somehow you are setting up yourself, as an uncatechized prospective convert, as knowing more than informed Catholics do on this topic. You are, in essence, rejecting the Church and attempting to steer others away by being a false prophet. That is exactly what you have set yourself up to become - a false prophet who calls God a liar and says, “Listen to me! I know more than you and even Jesus himself, and I will show you how to live a life that rejects God’s love for us!!!”

You are on a road that leads straight to hell. If you are seeking the truth, then you need to accept the truth in obedience. Because right now, you are not seeking the truth. You are seeking to impose your newly founded Excalibarian religion on Catholics, and you are deadly wrong in your beliefs and your actions.

Someone posted a link to some outstanding podcasts on the One True Church. Since you are not yet in RCIA, I highly recommend you give these a listen. I hope that you listen, learn, and accept the truth, rather than continue to fight the truth. Whose side do you want to be on, God’s? Because right now you are spewing the doctrine of demons and saying with Lucifer, “I WILL NOT SERVE” because you just don’t like the truth.

The One True Faith Podcasts

I am SO sorry that you were terribly disappointed by the “god” of one “church”, and that you impute the errors of that “church” as regards God to THE Church, but that imputation is uncalledfor.

You were, quite possibly, “allowed” to experience your old “cultish church” so that you would see the truth in The Church in it’s full glory by extreme contrast, and have an INTENSE energy to use in God’s service.

The test now may be that you need to not put your concept of God (as not being utterly concerned with each of us BECAUSE He has only demonstrated TO YOU that it’s either ABSOLUTE love for “mankind” or ABSOLUTE love for each person) before that of the Church’s knowledge of the reality of God, which is that God loves both “things” absolutely utterly and equally!

The way through this “test” is to be docile to the Church’s magisterial teaching, and find a way that this truth makes sense to you, instead of finding a way for you to be right and the Church to be wrong.

I spent the last year realizing that I was not special enuff to be saved from a cult, untill after that cult was done using me…and trust me this cult aint done untill there aint nothin left.
You couldn’t be any more wrong, wrong, wrong.

Are you blind?

Can you not see that God is trying to rescue you from that cult right now?! Who do you think is calling you into the Catholic Church? It ain’t yourself. What is going on is a GRACE FROM GOD.

God is throwing you a lifesaver but you are currently stubbornly refusing to take it. Instead of doing the smart thing, you’re treading water while screaming at the Catholics back on the boat that you’ve got it all under control and know better than they do how to stay afloat. If you’d just take the lifesaver you’d be on the boat rather than in a futile stuggle that will only end in drowning or being eaten by sharks.

If I infinitly loved someone I would have opened the door some how.
a very small miracle for someone you love.
i have often felt this way, that if God loved me, why this or why that… In fact, i felt it yesterday… I will probably feel that feeling over and over again before “it” is all over with… and it is one of the worst, if not the worst feeling anyone can have…

Anyway, you can go to a Church in the daytime and it will probably be open. If you live in the city, there are usually several Churches open to choose from…

Have you spent much time with Jesus There?

I have - quite a bit. I would recommend staying for as long as possible… because if you are anything like me… Well, i always feel better the longer i stay… At first, i can feel very… overwhelmed… concerning the condition of my soul…and/or my circumstances and/or relationships (etc) but Jesus helps me to understand things, the longer i stay… and of course, He is a healer… the only one we really need…

God bless… I pray you find a Church… 🙂

Are you Catholic??

If I infinitly loved someone I would have opened the door some how.
a very small miracle for someone you love.
also, i think God sometimes has us go through things that make us feel that He has abandoned us… so that we can… (How do i say it??) … Well, i just know that God is into putting us into situations where a choice is to be made… It is easy to believe in God when things are going well… but what about when they are not? Do we ditch God when things aen’t going so wel?

God loves us unconditionally. He wants us to love Him that way also… We say we love him that way… and we mean it, usually, but it has to be tested… If someone told u “I love you unconditionally” you may not believe it. You would have to watch that person and see his/her actions over a period of time b4 you could say… .“yeah… that person really DOES love me that way…” I doubt you would believe it of someone you hardly know and who doesn’t know you…

Anyway… God bless…

God bless… I pray you find a Church… 🙂

Are you Catholic??
Excaliber is a former Jehovah’s Witness who has been investigating the Catholic Church for a bit more than a year and is strongly interested in joining RCIA.

Well, then, Excaliber should listen to us to understand what he’s/she’s going to be learning in RCIA, and knock off the JW habits!

Actually, Excalie seems be rather violently doing precisely the OPPOSITE of what would be allowable as a JW, which is obviously a “rubber band” reaction to his/her newfound freedom of expression.

That’s cool, but there’s a need to tone it the heck DOWN, and learn instead of pontificating when pontificating is counterproductive!

I love you, Excalie, but… man… <grumble, fNARgoflarmgurflomitnerfuuuuur…>

If Gods love is focused on individuals, you can make the argument that he lets people die of hunger,
God entrusted people to one another… to care for each other(St. Matthew 25:31-46). It is up to US not God to feed the hungry, etc…
but what did they get for loving God??? there lives destroyed…or depression so bad people are on medication…MEDICATION FOR TRYING TO SERVE GOD!!!
i have felt this about my own life… and i am Catholic… but then, well, speaking for myself… i had to stop and come to the realization that maybe i was serving God in a way that I thought was best, not necessarily the way He thought was best… I don’t know… still praying a bout that… My point is that one cannot blame God for things that are… human-caused or whatever…
the ironic thing is that most of them still don’t know about the catholic faith, yea you heard me, there search for God was the most distructive thing in there whole LIFE…and God still has not revealed his Church to them.
for one thing, there is no way for you to know whether many of those people (or any of them) you claim have not heard of the Church really have not heard… . Everyone has heard of the Catholic Church… If they are not there yet or thinking of going there yet… it may be for many reasons. God meets people where they are at… and leads them… But if a person turns his back on God (as you say former JW are often atheists…), God cannot guide them… Well, He still interrvenes in their lives somehow because He wants eveyrone to be saved and get to Heaven… but He won’t take a person somewhere they are not ready to go… I belive that He does, however, get them ready to go there… He works in ways we cannot see…
God makes sure mankind has the Church…not each individual, which you guys say he is madly in love with.
Some people are so resistant to the Catholic faith that they have blinded themselves… or they honestly believe it is not the right one… Only God knows… and if they accept Christ at all, they are, indirectly, accepting the Catholic C hurch, whether they know it or not…
Guys I understand that you want to believe that God is interested in every detail of your individual life.
He is!! He definitely IS!! And i am glad you mention this because it reminds me of the first - or at least one of the first times i ever believed this with all my heart… and again, it was when i was with Him @ the Blessed Sacrament. Years ago, i went through a terrible, terrible crisis, one i didn’t think i was going to come out of… I went to the Church… I sat quietly in His Presence… and so many things came to me… things about my life, my family, my psychological “issues”… and though some of it was painful and a little “scary”… (long stoyr what i mean…), it was so awesome because it was all about ME!! I had never had that much individual attention before (healthy attention, that is… i’ve had plenty of unhealthy attention given to me  ).
But Its just like the Catholic church…I KNOW its the truth, people swear to me that its not…but I already know now.And I have an arsenal of proof to show them.
🙂

You are blessed… You are on the right track… and can now lead others… 🙂

This tactic won’t work.
I am trained to teach Jw doctrine…the doctrine I was trained to teach was false…but the methods are far above yours.

I know this tactic. You say your speaking for the church…but even a convert knows that “Scripture-Tradishen-Magisterium”
That is the tool the Holy Spirit is using.

Am I right or am I right?

All you had to do is bring this to me…and it would have been all the proof you needed. But you can’t, you bring me peoples OPINION.
That is not valid. The teaching athority of what I just menchoned IS valid.

You will not succed in this" all of us against this agent of lucifer garbage".

Just prove your point…and if you can’t…admit that you can’t.

now I already know, that your whole lucifer argument is supposed to
  1. Make me look like the enemy, so that others on the forum attack me.
  2. Make me angry, so that I return
hatefull slurs. And change the subject of the thread.
You are trying that tactic…or its possible you are not…and you just don’t know how to talk to a convert.

Anyway

Last I checked Christians are not supposed to judge others.
You had to do that to make your whole lucifer accusation. And to send me to hell while I am yet living.
Or am I wrong about that too,Mabey instead of bringing (Scripture tradishen and magesterium) we should just hurl slurs at people because we can’t proove our point.

We are at what seven or more pages, and you keep bringing me opinion and saying if you don’t follow OPINION then your rejecting
“The Church”.

The Church was not built on opinions like limbo.
As a Catholic you are only “supposed” to teach what the church teaches…not your opinionated spin on it. And you definitely can’t put people on the road to hell.

But I see what you are trying to do.

Ok Im taking all bets…who wants to bet that instead of just bringing me something with teaching athority. beckycmarie’s next post will be full of all this YOU AGENT OF LUCIFER…YOU FALSE PROPHET…YOU HAVE SET UP A NEW RELIGION…YOUR GOING TO HELL…etc…etc…etc…
Believe my opinion of scripture or you reject THE CHURCH.

beckycmarie I was born on at night…it just wasent last night.
(hehehe you gota admit…that joke never gets old)

prove your point and save the acusations and un christian judgemental behavior. Are you so judgemental that you would try to judge me over the computer?

We aren’t supposed to bet…but since your already judging people.
I bet you can’t prove your point without opinion.

Who wants to take my bet 🙂

Excaliber needs our patience and prayers. He is very depressed and has made several attempts to contact the Catholic Church and make friends unsuccessfully. (Search some of his other threads) He doesn’t understand why God would allow him to be in more or less a cult for so long. Almost all of his family members are either JWs or Seventh Day Adventists, and so are virulent anti-Catholics. In fact, as a former JW, he has to sneak to Mass, because if it was found out that he had left the JW’s, he would be permanently “disfellowed” and shunned by virtually all of the family and friends he has. They would be basically forbidden from talking to him or contacting him. Because the JW’s believe the end is coming in our lifetime, people are encouraged to spend all of their time prosyletizing, since saving souls in these last days is most critical. Charity was irrelevant, since the second coming would be in a few years. People are discouraged from higher education and marriage, and so Excaliber never developed any serious relationships, and has no education to fall back on for a job. He only discovered the truth after working at the JW headquarters in New York, and found, after all of his years of service, devoting almost 24 hours a day to his faith, that he was thrown out of his living accomodations with no warning and no place to go. He also discovered plenty of hypocricy and corruption there. Since he now lives with a family member, if anyone found out, he could be thrown out of his own home onto the street. The JWs are ALL about the organization, and are very tight-knit. You are made to feel welcome, you are immediately brought into the organization, and you are quickly paired up with people to make the JWs your social and religious network. Catholicism, in many ways, is the polar opposite of the JWs. (Not to mention that the JW’s are non-Trinitarian). When Excaliber has gone to Catholic Churches, he has generally been ok with the experience, but no one at the church door welcomed him, asked if he was new, or directed him to resources for newcomers interested in the faith. He has been unable to contact the (likely) severely overworked priest at the parish. Any attempt to show interest in converting to Catholicism has required him to jump through a multitude of hoops just to get anything started (so far). The idea of staying after Mass for “coffee and doughnuts” to meet people in many ways seems foreign and almost offensive to him. The JWs would have a multitude of organized religious activities that EVERYONE would participate in, not just a few. (Not to mention that almost everyone in the JWs is highly active in their faith, whereas there is a huge range of participation and belief among Catholics). He is also a fairly shy person by nature, and about the only African-American at his parish. (He knows NO ONE that is Catholic, besides those of us here online.) Everything that he has known is his life religiously has been turned upside-down, and he’s having difficulty coping. Is it a wonder that he is depressed and frustrated?

Before we get too hostile, angry, or frustrated with Excaliber, I thought that it was important that we all know where he’s coming from.

thank you so much for letting me know about him… I thought he was right on about a lot of what… i think it was beckymarire(?) said… she sounded VERY judgmental and cold and uncaring… I am not saying she is uncaring but just that she came across that way…

I call it Bad COW disease… Bad Choice of Words…

I don’t know what else to say other than I’ll pray for you, Excaliber, and that I sincerely hope you’ll take the time to listen to the One True Church podcasts I linked. Jesus tells us to instruct the ignorant and admonish the sinner, which I attempted to do, even if badly - the truth was there. If the words of the Pope himself won’t get through to you, then certainly nothing I have to say will. Thus, I think it’s time for me to take leave of your thread.
