uhmm wasnt gods will that all of us be saved so i think that would lead us too conclude that yes he does care about us since he wants us with him

P.S. hi everybody im new to the forums

uhmm wasnt gods will that all of us be saved so i think that would lead us too conclude that yes he does care about us since he wants us with him
right… and if one were to read the diary of St. Faustina, well, in that work, Jesus tells us over and over that it is WE who reject Him and all that He has to give… it is NEVER Jesus (who is God) who doesn’t care for us as individuals… although, since we are all so human and weak and all that… we tend to project onto God/Jesus our own “stuff”… For example, if we are rejected and neglected and/or abused or whatever as a child… and / or have gone through other horrible things, well, that is going to color our perceptions of who God is…

I know because i have always struggled to believe that i am a “good enough” person… and in the eyes of humans, i now know that i never will be “good enough”… but i no longer care because i am valuable to God…

People down the Catholic Church but it was only when i got deep into the Faith that i began to realize how much God/Jesus love me… ONLY Then… I tried EVERYTHING else… eveyr other church, every other whatever… NOthing worked but the Catholic faith…

True, i got some heavy crosses along the way… but those crosses are there by the will of God… and teach us what we need to learn…

Dear excalibur -
I understand the thought process you explained. But God created us - INDIVIDUALLY. And He has a Plan for each one of us - Yes, to carry out His Divine Will - but He has given us “free will”, which means that when we use it (sometimes not for the better) we don’t do His Will. He hasn’t created a cookie-cutter human being, and He cares enough for us that He sent His Son to save us (and undo the mess we made with our own free will - starting with Adam and Eve). If He created / looked at us as one big mass group of humans, then why the individuality (in appearance, personality, mannerisms, trains of thought, health issues, GRACES, etc.)?

Does God care for each one of us? Remember when Jesus hung on the Cross and the “Good Thief” admitted he deserved to be there but not Jesus? When the thief said, “Remember me when You come into Your Kingdom” - Jesus didn’t say, I’ll remember you and every thief who repents (while we know those who repent will be forgiven)…But Jesus was specific. “This day, Thou shalt be with Me in Paradise.”

Atheists? God creates souls - not atheism - though He may send them into a family where they are either taught or later develop an atheistic theory. I don’t know His ways. God doesn’t love the theory. But He still loves the soul He created. And He waits, and He watches, and He offers countless opportunities for souls to come to Him - and, yes, to do HIS DIVINE WILL. How can you think otherwise, when we’re told that at the moment of death, souls are given a final choice - where we’re asked three times to repent (I believe it’s in St. Faustina’s book). We don’t all die at one time. God takes the time - to speak to each of us - to bless and grace us - individually. How does a parent just love a bevy of children as a whole without having special feelings for each one?

If God loved everyone as one big bundle, then why would some saints (like Padre Pio) have the stigmata - and some not at all? Why do some have greater graces or crosses than the next? God has ordained something specific and individual for each of us - and I believe He loves us EQUALLY, watches over us/blesses us individually, and as the degrees of Heaven, Hell and Purgatory evidence by what we’re taught, He rewards or punishes individually, as well. But, as God, He doesn’t need to do it the way we would have to - keeping track of a large family of children scurrying about, for instance. He has His Divine Ways. He knows all. How can we possibly guess or understand Him - aside from knowing He is our Creator, and our Loving Father.

And who’s to make the determinations about Guardian Angels. Maybe they’re God’s Assigned Babysitters (no disrespect meant to my Holy Guardian Angel) - but isn’t that what a parent would do? Who’s to say how much more trouble we’d be in - without a Guardian Angel? These are things we will not know or understand until we die. “Blessed are they who have not seen, but believe.”

God loves us - with infinite powers that we are unable to perceive. And while I agree that He puts us here to do His Divine Will and glorify Him, His Love is for each - not just all - of us. He hears each prayer - and we don’t understand why some are seemingly heard/answered more than others - but God does understand.

I’m no theologian - and my words are long but simple. But I hope in some way I have explained what I believe is the Greatest Gift we have - Our Father in Heaven, His Son, Jesus, The Holy Spirit - watching out for each one of us - and sharing the Blessed Mother WITH us.
Does this really mean that God loves me, as an individual?

The person who stated that God is not concerned with the individual is forgetting who God is. As St. Thomas Aquinas stated, " God is goodness pouring itself out". This is why we know God to be love, for even in the act of creation he created the individual person, Adam. Throughout the whole of salvation history God has reached out to individuals From Abraham to Ezekiel. We see Jesus as the word of God in the world or his expression,if you will. The act of redemption was caused by the individual Jesus who was the God-Man. It was also the same Jesus who told us that our Father in heaven knows how many hairs we have on our head…sounds individual to me!!

i believe that God knows each one of us personally and knows everything about us and what we do at all times. There were many times i called for His help and immediately got it. When you have a personal relationship with God you know that he is with you always.

people think/believe this kind of thing - that God is not concerned with us all that much… because - for one thing - people are not concerned… At least a lot of them aren’t… There is a lot of coldness in the world. In fact, it seems there is a some kind of on-going “contest” to see who can be the coldest, most uncaring, most selfish person…

but the bible warns us of this…

“Because of iniquity, the love of many will grow cold.”

this is supposed to be a Christian site and yet i have seen so much un=christian behavior here… really weird…

One good thing, though, about it… makes you appreciate Jesus that much more:) :highprayer: .

There are some man made Ideas that are popular among Christians,
but are not true.
One Idea is that 100 percent of christianity is in the bible…it sounds good but is not true.

Another Idea is that Almighty God is Concerned with individuals. Sounds Good but is not true.

Sola scripture has caused Christianity to break up into thousands of denominations.

And the Idea that God is equaly concerned with every individual.Has caused athiests…and also people to act as if they have some protection from God…when in truth they do not. Then when things happen to them they are confused.

The point is that popular Ideas that are not true are harmfull.

For example the teaching on gardian angels comes partly from scripture…that part is true…but then man adds all this stuff about talking to them and that they care about you and just all this extra stuff that was never there.

The fact is that God is concerned with HIS will being acomplished, and he is concerned with his people as a group…NOT EVERY INDIVIDUAL PERSON.

This can be proven from scripture.
And by everyday life, and the use of our God given reason.

I hear athiests at my job say…if there was a God why did he let this or that happen…why dosent he do something about this or that evil. And I always hear athiests say that if God gave them a sign then they will believe.

My thinking is that God dose not stop all the evil unless it directly effects Gods will or unless its in the way of something he wants done. He won’t stop it on acount of the individuals effected…simply because he is not concerned with them.

God is also perfectly able to give the athiest a sign to believe…but probably will chose not to…because even I can’t see how this person is of any importance to GOD…so to put it bluntly…Almighty God could probably care less about that one individual.

If we look at scripture we can see that God favored people that he wanted to favor. It would normaly however be a leader…david…joshua…moses… apostle…prophet…not every individual isrealite…not every individual christian.

If people want to believe things that make them feel good, I guess that’s what they will do.

But its not true…why do people ask The Holy Virgin Mary to pray for them…she is closer to God…she is Important to God, and so If she makes a request he probably will grant it.
But if the individual asks without Mary helping God may not grant the request. Now if God Loved every individual soooo much, He would grant a request without a saint also asking him, simply because he cared for that individual.

The truth hurts, But God is concerned with his will being acomplished. Why would he care about you or me as individuals?
How sad I feel for you. I know others on this thread will offer explanations and reasoning to your confusion. Frankly, you’re to deeply confused for anyone person to address…except the Lord and God of all - Jesus Christ.

I’m retired military…paratrooper - I hope and pray that someday the Lord will grant you the grace to get your head out of your 4th point of contact.

Ah, the joys of having a Jewish mama. I grew up with both the Old and New Testaments being put together all the time.

Go back to the Old Testament. What you find in the Psalms are a series of personal prayers, pleas, speeches, and moments of thanksgiving. You’ll find that most of the Psalms are written in a first-person, one person only POV talking directly to God.

The Jews have always believed that God has a special relationship with their people. He speaks to all of them and has a strong tie to each individual.

Coming to Catholicism now, it’s only right to believe that we can feel the same way, for we are the inheritors of the Chosen People. Without Jewish tradition, Catholicism makes no sense. Without Passover, the Last Supper loses its meaning.

So here we are, Catholics, holding on to the same beliefs as the Jews, because they were the first people to accept and be given the Law. And we see in the Old Testament, in the book of Jonah, that anyone with the will to believe will be shown favor by God, and will be saved.

In Jonah, the traditional enemies of the Jews were set up to be destroyed if they did not repent, but God saw that they were willing to do so.

(Some folks here might believe that Jonah is a sort of a novella - current archeology and anthropology suggests that it might be a true story, but either way, the spirit of the story is why it was included, as it clearly depicts a correct understanding of God’s nature.)

God punished Jonah over and over again when Jonah refused to go preach to the enemy. When Jonah finally gave in, the entire people, from the King to the lowest slaves, repented and became God’s people, and were spared. Jonah was offended that his traditional enemy could receive Grace. He pouted, and God called him on his behavior. God created a tree or bush that kept him cool in the hot sun, and then the tree died. Jonah was angry.

Jonah 4:10-11
Then the Lord said, “You are concerned over the plant which cost you no labor and which you did not raise; it came up in one night and in one night it perished. And should I not be concerned over the Nineveh, the great city, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand persons who cannot distinguish their right hand from thier left, not to mention the many cattle?”

If God were only concered with groups as a whole, he had no reason to be interested in the Nineveh, for they were enemies of God. They didn’t necessarily “play a part” in God’s plan.

And yet they, and all the animals that belonged to them, were of great importance to God at that time, because he wanted them saved.

The Jewish belief is the same - God cares about the individuals, whether they’re from the Chosen People or if they’re gentiles. Each individual plays a role in God’s plan. Each one suffers because of Sin, and yet God doesn’t turn His back on them. He is there, and He bears the sufferings of all His people, as Christ hung on the Cross.

Now let’s fast forward to the New Testament:

Matthew 18:12-13
What is your opinion? If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray, will he not leave the ninety-nine in the hills and go in search of the strays? And if he finds it, amen, I say to you, he rejoices more over it than over the ninety-nine that did not stray.

And that’s nothing compared to all the individual healings, the teachings, his protection of the children and his warning not to lead them astray, etc.

Yes, bad things happen to people. Keep in mind that everyone suffers from sin. Even “blameless” people suffer from sin, because they indulge in it, even if they struggle against it. Saints are frequently the people who know more than anyone else just how much they don’t measure up to God’s perfection.

The truth is, some people we see who are humble, lovely people, strong and dedicated to God, and kind, and make us ashamed of ourselves and our haughtiness and our riches… these people probably wouldn’t be this example of holiness if they hadn’t been honed in the fire of tribulation. Sin kills all of us, makes us suffer. But in that suffering, we get better, stronger, more thoughtful. There are times when I think we could all benefit from living with hardships instead of having the world handed to us.

God does His best for everyone without taking away our free will. Because He is the Master of everything and in 100% complete control, He has lovingly allowed us to make our own decisions, and from time to time He will let us choose our own paths, as long as our choices don’t interfere with His ultimate plan. But because He is both the Sovreign Lord of all and because He gave us free will, sometimes we don’t miraculously win the lottery. But we always get something, some way out of the darkness.

I’m a spoiled, middle-class white chick, age 31. I have a lot of stuff handed to me on a platter. And God can do that for me both because of my circumstances and because helping me out doesn’t interfere with His plan. But even if I lost all my money tomorrow, or lost my new job, or lost my father to cancer, I know that God hasn’t forgotten me, and He is with me, and He has carried my pain on the Cross.

Why do so many people assume just because someone suffers, God isn’t there? God cares, or why the heck did he allow his Son, the Second Person, God himself, to die a horrible, painful death, bearing all our sins and transgressions, all our sorrow and pain, carrying everything evil in the world for us?

God IS concerned with individuals. He’ll send us the right direction. Sometimes it’ll be by strewing roses across a gentle path for us to follow, and sometimes it’ll be with a cattle prod. But ultimately the goal is Salvation, is Heaven. Don’t look around at the ruckus going on here and think, “Oh, God doesn’t care.” He’s just getting us cleansed so we can be with Him in heaven.
