I promise you all, that this is the absolute last thing I will say on the subject of mental illness, unless someone else raises the subject in this thread…if I want to say more I will initiate a new thread. Moderators can always take me to task/delete my posts, which is why I am copying this thread in case I have to start another thread on the subject. Something happened this morning here in Bethany which makes me very cross re The Church and sufferers of mental illness and their plight…and this IS the internet! Some of our priests, religious and heirarchy I hear do peruse these Catholic discussion sites now and then.
To raise laughter and also insight amongst sufferers of mental illness, I tell them that St. Paul said “we make up in our own bodies, what was lacking in the Sufferings of Christ” and since Jesus lacked the horrors of mental illness per se, we suffer mental illness gladly on His Behalf. Certainly on the cross, he experienced the total sense of abandonment of it all.
(Shakespeare: The good men do lives after them, the bad is oft interred with their bones, so let it be with Caesar…or v v - I most always get it wrong. Shakespeare did not have the Internet!..this gives me smile when I hear that quote - one can enshine for posterity what one likes! With God looking over your shoulder reading!!!
