A message for serious Catholics:

Beginning Easter Sunday night, the A&E Television Network will air a reality series depicting young men discerning their call to the priesthood. Entitled “God or the Girl,” the series has received mostly positive reviews from officials in the USCCB who have seen it.

The series is an evolution of a project that was begun over a year ago by the Warner Brothers Studios. National Council of Diocesan Vocation Director’s board members, along with Fr. Ed Burns in the USCCB’s Secretariat for Vocations and Priestly Formation, were invited to provide counsel to the producers.

According to Fr. Burns, who has seen the final edition of the series, the piece can be a valuable tool in fostering vocations.

Consider hosting a viewing at your house for young men who may have a calling for the priesthood. Let your parish priests know about this and see if they will announce it. You may want to also have this information posted in your parish bulletins and mail outs. I know I’ll be glued to the TV after Easter. The question is: Will my girlfriend?

One of the four men is my Youth Minister :D. Dan is the one. He recommends it 😉 .

Sounds like an awesome program. Unfortunately since I moved to the mountains, I can’t afford cable or satelite. And the rabit ears don’t get A&E 😦
