If God provides for all our needs, then why is there so many homeless people living in the streets with no shelter and very little food?

Why? Because those who claim they are His are unwilling to be His hands.

Where does that leave the poor guy who is hungry and has no shelter in light of God’s promise to fulfill our needs?

He would be blessed by God because of his poverty. But it is our job to provide for that man, since we are the Body of Christ.

There’s a contemporary band called Casting Crowns with a song like this:
“If we are the Body, why aren’t his arms reaching? why aren’t His hands healing? Why aren’t His words teaching?”

There are myriad reasons for poverty. None of them detract from God’s goodness.

As said, poverty may exist because people are not ‘being God’s hands’. It may exist because of poor resource management/stewardship. It may also exist because of poor choices on the part of the poor.

Poverty exists because evil exists. Evil exists because of our free will to choose God’s ways or not. We are God’s people, but we are also fallen people. This is true of all people, both the materially poor, and those who are not “poor” in the material sense.

If God provides for **all **our needs, then why is there so many homeless people living in the streets with no shelter and very little food?
That highlighted word is your problem right there. God, in His goodness, grows us to be fundamentally good persons. If God handed us everything on a plate without any sort of human contribution to goodness, then we would become spiritually lazy and dependent on God rather than seeking intrinsic right.

“In your land, it is accounted a miracle when God does the will of the people. Here, we account it as a miracle when the people do the will of God.”

Keep something Our Lord said in mind.

“7] For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you will, you can do good to them; but you will not always have me” (Mark 14)

This has proved true for the last 2,000 years, and even long before that. There are always those who “fall through the cracks” of society, and it’s always the right thing to do to help them in a tangible way. I mean, look at Matthew 25:31-46.

There is always more that we can do, no matter what we are doing already.

God provides…but even as He uses His angels to do His will, He also wants to use us to meet needs wherever we find them.
