Back in the middle of July, I was traveling across the state of Pennsylvania with my wife. We came around a lazy curve on a hill somewhere in the middle of the state on a cloudless day, when I looked up and saw, plain as day, a message in the sky from the Almighty.
The message was this: a large cloud in the shape of a stylized letter P. My wife was asleep, so I nudged her awake and pointed it out to her. She asked, “So?” and I said, “It has now been revealed that the Philadelphia Phillies are going to the win the World Series this year.” At the time, the Philles had a 1/2 game lead on the fast-gaining Mets and Marlins and a collapse looked imminent; besides that, there were still 67 games left in the season.
But now it’s October 29 and the Philadelphia Phillies are the champions of baseball.
