I was studying the Gospel of Matthew today when I landed on this verse. Matthew 1:21-And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. I pondered on it for a while. We are God’s people. In this verse is used by protestents as a confirmation that Jesus is the only method of the forgiveness of sins, which I and every Catholic should believe as well. It is also talking about the Jews, but we are God’s people too, am I not correct. We sin. God came to save his people (Those who believe on the Trinity and his Death Burial and Resurection) from there sins. This refrutes the statement that “once saved always saved as well” (I posted my Judas example earlier) Because he came to save US from OUR sins. I also read further along and found myself in Matthew 3:10. It says “And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.” To prove our love to God, we must continually produce Good fruit. This is a blessing and a warning. If we continue to give forth good fruit we will live and God will be our maintainer (Salvation) but if we decide not to live for him and bring forth bad fruit or no fruit at all, then God will cast us into the fire. This proves that the blood of Christ will be evident in our lives only if we live for God first by accepting his blood atonement for our sins and never rejecting it. Thank God that Christ gave his body on the Cross! Thank God for continually giving us his Body and Blood to remind us of our Faith (Eucharist). My Faith Gets reassured every day! I thought I would post this, It was interesting and a blessing to me. God bless the Faithful!

RESPONSE:

Are you claiming that those who donb’t believe this or even in the the Christian God are all going to hell?

The Following passage is something that I believe can be applied to us as well, not just the Jews and it does not refute the scriptures and does not go against The Church. But, If you do not believe in the Father Son and the Holy Spirit and are not “baptized of Water and of the Spirit, you can not enter the kingdom of God”. Yes, If you do not believe in the Christian God (Trinity) you are in direct violation of the Scripture and the Church therefore it is impossible to enter the kingdom of God.

Your comments made me think of there verses in 1 Corinthians about the believers judgment time regarding works…The fruits of the spirit are love, joy peace ect…We are to bring forth fruit and that fruit remains…What do you think of the correlation between work vs fruit…Also think about the parable of the sower about the last seed bringing forrt a harvest compared to the devil stealing the word in the beginning…Good point also about the Jews not receiving Him and the gospel going to the gentiles…Rmember He has another flock…Good start for some good study…Thanks…May the Lord bless you and draw you closer…

12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but
he himself shall be saved;
yet so as by fire.
16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

BTW, who said Catholics don’t study the word to show themselves approved ?

All the fruits of the spirit combined pretty much make up the statement “Love” “Love of God” If we are to bring forth Good fruit and truly love God our works will determine that. If we do not do good works in the name of Christ, do we really love God? 🙂 I say not! If we love God as it says in the Bible, we will keep his commandents. And that is to love. I love studying the scripture. God has given me that love as I draw closer to Him. God’s two greatest commandments is to love God and your neighbor, “If you love me keep my commandments”. A new commandment I give unto you, John 13:35 ***“That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.” ***Loving one another and Loving God above all else proves your salvation, because it says further in the Bible in verse 36 "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.". If we constantly live in a state of sin without confession, do we really love and have faith in God? No because if do not love him we truly do not have faith in him and we will not do good works for him (praying, charity, Church, ect…) therefore we are just like Judas who turned from being God’s disciple and “Faith without works…is dead” I dare not stand in front of the Almighty Father one day with Dead Faith.

They is so much in the scriptures…Him willing that any should perish…I pray for my own kids, seems the get to college and their faith takes the back burner…Lukewarmness is a scary place…Back to the works judgments, It seems some don’t have good works and get ash but they still get to heaven…We both know there are many immature believers mixed with us…We also know there are those in our churches that have a form of religion and deny His power, I would give them label s of tares…We really need to stay close to Him in these last days and be a light to those around up…For those who have ears to hear…peace to you bro…

I agree, If we believe in his name and what he did for us and are baptized, staying close to him cant hurt. It can only ensure our passage to heaven 🙂 Thats why I now don’t get why people don’t want to become Catholic, maybe they want to believe that they can live in sin and still go to heaven, sounds like a copout to me

RESPONSE

Didn’t Vatican II teach otherwise?

“Nor is God far distant from those who in shadows and images seek the unknown God, for it is He who gives to all men life and breath and all things and as Saviour wills that all men be saved. **Those also can attain to salvation **who through no fault of their own do not know the Gospel of Christ or His Church, yet sincerely seek God and moved by grace strive by their deeds to do His will as it is known to them through the dictates of conscience. Nor does Divine Providence deny the helps necessary for salvation to those who, without blame on their part, have not yet arrived at an explicit knowledge of God and with His grace strive to live a good life.”

So not only Catholics can be saved, but also Jews, Muslims, agnostics, and other unbaptized persons.

Your right anyone can be saved, but will they choose Christ or deny Him
Muslums Deny the trinity, therefore they deny God. Many Jews Deny Jesus Christ as the Messiah…The only way they could find out is Jesus was the Messiah is by looking at the Gospel. The Key to that is ***Without Blame ***They are Denying the truth there fore they are not ignorent of the Gospel, To Deny is not without blame

RESPONSE:

Some deny him (eg Jews) and some know nothing of them. According to the Catholic Church (now), they can still be saved.

RESPONSE:

One can “deny” what he simply does not believe, and still be saved. It is an honest denial.

Yes God has a Big plan for the apple of His eye before He returns.I’ve also have heard some incredible stories where muslims have been having dreams and visions of Jesus and our turning to Him…I just recently heard a testimony of a jihadists that turned to Christ…

RESPONSE:

And, of course, you believe the testimony of jihadists, right;)

But if you believe everything in the Bible, I can see how you’d make that mistake.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto good works.”

The Word here is ALL Scripture…If you do not believe every word of the Bible then you are in denial.

🙂 yes I was a student of God’s Word in Bible College for 3 years, its funny the things you just sometimes don’t see until you really open your eyes. The Scriptures never stop teaching and I can’t wait to see what God’s Power through his word and the Church will open my eyes to next!

RESPONSE:

On the contrary, then one is rational. Not a “true believer,” and one can’t be easily misled.

I gave Scripture to show that you were wrong in your previous post, you give oppinion.
