God was with me

I have a question about people who claim “God was with me” or “He saved me/he/she/them” in some disaster or massacre/etc…the problem is, we are to believe God saved the ones that lived and not the ones that died??.. because that is exactly what they are saying<>“God saved me”

One view could be that it is about comfort, easing the pain. But, it could also be suggested that it is just what it means. Those that died (or were mamed) did so by Gods plan. Or as 1Kings 19:11 says, “there was a great wind, but God WAS NOT in the wind”. Simply an act of God’s creation acting in accordance with his rules of nature.

A little of topic, it’s odd when somebody who just lost a child is told by another, “It’ll be okay”. Not good. Think of other words.

Hi, just a few thoughts

God, in His infinite knowledge, obviously has further duties for the people who survived (who may have families that still need their presence etc.). Or perhaps the people who survived still require a period in this life for penance or the development of a relationship with God. Perhaps the people who have died in such disasters, whom God has chosen to take, have already been saved by God. Also, their demise may lead to the conversion of other family members: as somebody said on this site; sometimes the only way God can enter somebody’s heart is to break it (or words to that effect). The true answer, however, is that we do not know and it is a matter of faith in God’s infinite love and knowledge.

I can tell you only from my experience with Christ. I was at or a bit over 4 months pregnant and I could not go home again empty handed I had lost Megan the same year as my Grandma, then the following year Kimberly. I became pregnant again in 1991. I prayed on Friday without having a relationship of any kind with God, that he would give me peace ( the decision was heartbreaking) or the extra money we needed that my husbands insurance wouldn’t cover for the high maintenance care I would need. I woke up Saturday morning with a peace I had never known and told my husband that must be the answer and settled in for the abortion on Monday. On Sunday at close to 11:00 pm came a call that we had the extra $3000.00 we needed for this child.
At 7 months and 1 week 4 days I began to lose this child, My Dr. was well on his way out of town and I was on my way in to town. I got to the hospital and was immediately told I was losing the baby. I and the Nursing staff could see the baby’s heartbeat dropping. the last I remember was it was at 69, and i was laying on a cot being rushed through hallways 9 in the Process a Nurse had her wrist broken), and one of those thick glass doors with chicken wire looking stuff was broken ( at least one was) then I was out.
I woke up to feeling like someone had poured boiling oil on my belly and was given relief immediately and told I had a son 3 pounds 6 ounces. my last words were his name is Alexander Christian and don’t let my husband change it. Alexander and I spent 5 days in the hospital and another miracle happened after prayers he was allowed to come home only weighing in at 3 pounds 3 ounces. This same child again was to be put in 2 months later with what they thought was meningitis, but after prayers from many and one prayer in particular stood out 9 that God would confound the Dr. we walked into Alexanders room the next day and he was well, no tubes, no breathing devices and he was able to go to a regular pediatric room for 10 looooong days for 'just in case" reasoning.
This is how I know God is with me, I believe in my heart ( possible for comfort reasons) that my beloved Grandma was taken first so that Megan and Kimberly would not be alone in Heaven. I needed God more with Alexander and needed to stand on the tiny thread of faith I had to know that on the most critical and monumental days of my life I had God with me. those days made me understand everything before and everything now as best I can and if I don’t then I rely on faith that one day I will know all the answers.What I truly know is God is with me no matter what is happening, I just have to trust the answer why!

ok. so He is with us, but it seems like some say ‘He saved me’, but then that would mean he would not save others who died/etc…does it not appear to be chance that someone is saved from a disaster???
