In today’s news we learn about the Nobel-Price 2011 for Saul Perlmutter (USA), Brian Schmidt USA and Australia) and Adam Riess, who “found out” that the Universe keeps expanding in exorbitant speed ever since the “Big Bang”. Now, what caused that legendary “Big Bang” science admittedly doesn’t know; Creation and God though, is never mentioned. Much arrogance and nonsense here influences too many, for science chokes belief here in too many people.

Pope Benedict XVI. gave us another ground to link faith with reason. One hardly exists without the other. Paul often pointed at the necessity of reason in belief; but reason without belief is dead.
The Pontiff said; that our time rejects the irrational, in favor to the pseudo-scientific that imagines to know all, - and what’s not scientifically comprehensible, the world simply declares inexistent, even if this statement as well as much of science conceals much arrogance and nonsense.
Instead of seeing “faith as a parallel world of feelings that we can still afford to hold on to” the Holy Father said, “faith far more so is the key that encompasses everything, gives it meaning, interprets it and also provides its inner ethical orientation”.
What does a human have, own, hold on to, - if he on one side knows “everything” about the world and universe and as Goethe put it: “So that I may perceive whatever holds // The world together in its inmost folds.”
Finally his “Dr. Faust” said: “And here, poor fool, I stand once more, // No wiser than I was before.”
What use is all this indeed pseudo-scientific “final knowledge”, when this person is about to die?! All he then can say to himself is:
What now little man?! Do I go into the Big Nowhere - the Nirvana - fade away like a daisy? What sense did it all make?
The Pope, as you can read further in this article mentioned above, said:
“when I think what counted as the highest, most modern philosophical fashion in our day, and how totally forgotten it is now …”
Science at all times kept and still keeps saying:
“formerly we thought that…… - but today we know that……”
Isn’t that enough prove, that science is a just all-too-fleeting thing, whilst the Gospel is eternal and didn’t change a iota ever since it existed.
(This does of course not touch such science, that enabled us to live in civilization and comparative good health, which all wasn’t possible to our ancestors - remember amputations without any narcotics for just one).
But what does scientific exploration about a worldly explanation of our world in the Universe give any individual, - considering that it even might be terribly wrong and useless; and what gives the Bible same individual - if he embraces it?
If we draw this comparisons, we recognize where the real truths lay. The reason for our faith is a richness the whole universe can’t ever give. A richness, that never ends - whilst any worldly richness will fade. Match Job 4,20-21: Between morning and evening they are destroyed; they perish for ever without any regarding it. If their tent-cord is plucked up within them, do they not die, and that without wisdom?’
Or take the word of Jesus’ Himself in Mt 24,35: The Universe, Heaven and Earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. (for a New Heaven and a New Earth God will create after dooms-day, as we read in Isaiah 65,17 or in Apoc 21,1. And even then God’s word will persist as it did before all times.
Pope JP2 said 1985 in CERN in the Switzerland’s city of Geneva (French short for “Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire”) European Organization for Nuclear Research, when he was asked; what if new scientific research would suddenly collide with Church’s doctrine?
Pope JP2 answered: This is absolutely impossible, since God wrote two books - the Bible and the Book of Nature. Therefore antitheses simply are impossible.
But just in case it should seem to be else, we must reconsider the Church’s interpretation of nature
