I obviously know that God does not tempt us to do evil.

But what about good, I ask this because it certanly seems like sometimes I am tempted to do something that is good. For example yesterday I had this burning urge to tell someone who had recently lost a loved one. Sorry for your loss, and I ended up doing it.

The Holy Spirit works in interesting and strange ways.

The Holy Spirit is with you like light shining for your soul.
Light makes things visible that were not visible in the dark of night.
This light of the Spirit makes virtuous things evident to do, where without it, they are in the shadows mixed among things that are more selfishly appealing.
But with the Spirit’s light they are so clear that we would say, “Of course this thing must be done.” (such as comforting one in sorrow).

Tempting has such negative connotations, let’s say God has agenerous rewards program for good acts!

I had an experience one time while I was at work. I had a sudden urge to call my sister-in-law, who was pretty much home-bound, and ask her if I could bring her home McDonalds after work. Well, I was quite busy, so I put it off and ultimately didn’t do it.

Well, the next day I talked to my sister-in-law and she said: ‘‘You’ll never guess what happened! Yesterday I told God, ‘you know what Lord? I could really go for a hamburger.’’’ …And then her best friend came by after she got home from work…carrying, guess what? Hamburgers from McDonalds!

It’s like the prophet Jeremiah said: “I will place my law within them, and write it upon their hearts; I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”

I think when it’s something good, we usually say God inspires us to do the good act. Gets rid of the negative connotation of “temptation”.

The Scriptures say that there are good deeds
and opportunities for good works, BUT not
all of them are God’s will, that’s why in Heb.
13:21 it says:“Now may the God of peace…
equip you in every good deed TO DO HIS
WILL, working in us what is pleasing to
Him” Let us PRAY that in every good deed
TO DO HIS WILL. “Those who do God’s
will will live forever” 1John 2:17

That wouldn’t be a temptation, as that term is usually associated with encouraging someone to do bad. Rather that was most likely your gaurdian angel, or someone, prompting you.

It comes in the form of an intuition, a feeling as you described. “Hey man, it would be a really good time to do xyz right about now.”
