Godparent age requirments?

My sister, LAMBOFGODGIRLY, is pregnant. She has already told me she would like me to be the godparent, and I am honored. But I am only thirteen, and will be either 14 or right before my fourteenth birthday when the baby is baptized. Would the church still let me become the godparent?

She let me use her account.
 
Canon law says you have to be at least 16 unless the diocesan bishop has established another age or the pastor has approved an exception source]. So I think the answer is to talk with your sister’s pastor. Another requirement is to have completed the sacraments of initiation, so if you haven’t yet been confirmed that would be something else to discuss with him.
 
Thank you for your answer. Also, by any chance, does anyone know if there is a thing like a stand in who can stand in for me until I complete my conformation? Like the baby’s grandmother?
