God's awesome blessing

I am usually a positive person, even seeing challenges as blessings. So I am happy to share my latest blessing. Our fourth, beautiful child was born with Down Syndrome a few weeks ago. Some have congratulated us, some have expressed condolences (I think they may be stuck in the 60s mindset of DS). However we were so happy that she has DS. I don’t know why but we are and have been since finding out at her birth.

It is wonderful that you have such a positive outlook. Maybe those who offer condolences will see what God’s love is like through your witness.

Congratulations! Every time I see a person who has DS I think of my brother in law and immediately smile. It’s like our families are part of some secret special club, in a way. He can be stubborn and silly, but he also brings so much joy and laughter to our family that we wouldn’t have without him. My children absolutely adore their uncle and think he is the funniest guy around. when i tried to explain downs to my 4yr old, i said “you know how uncle mikey talks a little different sometimes?” (He is mostly non verbal) and she said “no, what do you mean?”. 🙂 I feel happy for and your family. Welcome to the club
 
Congratulations. I know many families who feel blessed to share the special love of parenting a child with downs syndrome. My aunt says my now 35 year old downs syndrome cousin is the love of her life. So happy for your family!

Thank you all for the congratulations. She is not only a part of our family but is also a part of the family in Christ. How awesome that so many praise all of God’s gifts, even when some come in non-typical boxes. May our Lord bless each of you this day.
