Gods calling for me - as a stutterer

I’m pretty sure Moses had a serious speech impediment. Isn’t that why Aron did all the talking? The thing is that Moses had similar misgivings about being called to service. God instructed him to not worry about it. Besides, I forget which one, but didn’t some saint say “preach the Gospel at all times. Use words only if necessary.”

Go get 'em young man and trust in the Lord!
AMEN!!! This fear that you have is Satan working in you. I’ve known for the past six years that I have a call to religious life and just this past August found the convent that is my home. I went on retreat with them a few weeks ago and had Mary speak to me VERY clearly about my vocation. Since coming home I’ve found spiritual life to be much more difficult. Through one of the things I was struggling with I came to understand just how much Satan hates me and doesn’t want me to embrace my vocation or to be happy and at peace with it. If he hates me that badly, who is only going to be a religious sister, how much more does he hate you who is thinking of becoming a priest? I was reading something (sorry I can’t remember what) the other day that was talking about how Satan is going to try his hardest to bring down the priests because if there are no holy priests then there is no Church. But we must not give up hope because we know that “the gates of Hell will not prevail against it” because Jesus already won!
Thanks for all your replies, I don’t have time to respond to each individually. It’s very comforting to read that there are many priests out there who stutter, I never met a stuttering priest in my life, I was worried because I feel that people should hear the mass fluently and clearly (to help them understand) instead of stopping and starting, which can be hard to listen to.

I would never think of ignoring gods call because of my stutter, I just want the best for the church. I understand that preaching the gospel doesn’t have to be talking. Actually living out the gospel, writing etc. is another way.

Thanks for all your responses, and pray for me as I continue to discern my vocation.

God bless,
Brendan.
You are most surely in my prayers! God bless you and keep you in the palm of His hand!
