God's compassion; what's true compassion

Since God is all compassionate how does things happen that are “seemingly” uncompassionate like humans killing animals for food and so on. I don’t know if it was supposed to be like that in the beginning or not. God is all judgment too right?

I don’t. I’ve been a vegan for 20 years now. I think Genesis 1:29 is how we are supposed to live.
Others may have a different view…!

I think St Francis shows us a good model of how to live.
 
I’m curious why you think that humans killing animals for food isn’t compassionate. Consider how the animal would die otherwise. Isn’t being quickly killed for a good purpose kinder – at least in many cases?

Would animals killing each other for food, or other reasons, also not be compassionate? I think that the earth was fundamentally affected by man’s disobedience and fall from grace. God’s compassion will bring all this to an end in time.

Let’s consider something “small and insignificant” - the pain of “teething”. Small children all go through that painful experience… and what is the point of that pain? Is it for the “greater glory of God”? Does it serve some ultimate purpose? Will the children “learn” from it? Does anyone expect them to “offer up” their pain? It sure has nothing to do with “free will”. It is simply a lousy biological arrangement. The teeth could come out painlessly. A “compassionate” God could have done is much better (if, of course he existed. :)).

I wasn’t defending all cases of humans killing animals for food. Surely many of these cases are inhumane.
