So as conscious beings we experience reality from a first person point of view. We experience sight, sound, color, taste, touch, emotion, we are conscious beings that are aware of our surroundings, we have qualia. Is God conscious in the same way we are? Is God a closed mind that has his own “first person point of view”? Since God is spirit he clearly doesn’t experience sensation in the way we do, yet is he conscious like us? Or is his consciousness higher than ours? Or is God’s experience something totally different from ours? So perhaps God is not conscious, at least not in the way we are, yet is still a all powerful being? Is God a conscious entity? Does he have a subjective experience of his own which cannot be experienced by any other?

We can only comprehend the nature of God in a limited capacity, though reason itself can brings us to a conception of God, particularly in regards to argumentation for His existence (see the Monologion and Proslogion of St. Anselm for an example of this). However, this cannot offer us a comprehensive insight into the nature of God, as only God can know God, which is a criticism of the ontological argument espoused by St. Thomas Aquinas. In regards to answering your question, if I were to give it an answer, I do believe that God has a consciousness, but not only a consciousness, but a consciousness that transcends all others and given his omniscience, God is not limited by the perception of our bodies, which can err without the aiding faculty of reason, which we commonly argue that God posseses reason in its absolute, uninhibited sense.

I hope this helps, it’s not exactly a question that one would come across often, so I appreciate your asking of it.

Consciousness means being aware of oneself, one’s acts, one’s surroundings, etc. According to that notion of the word “consciousness,” we can say that, yes, God is conscious. He knows Himself, and He is aware that He knows Himself. He is aware of His acts, both internal and external acts; and He is aware of everything that happens in the world.

Is He conscious in the same way we are? Of course not. Our consciousness is a limited consciousness. We are only aware of ourselves, our feelings and acts, our surroundings, etc. but we are not fully aware of how others feel or of what others think. God’s consciousness does not have that kind of limitation. Being infinite, His consciousness is more comprehensive and extends to everything that happens or is experienced in the world of creatures, not only in our material universe, but even in the spiritual world of angels. He is aware not only of His thoughts, but also of my thoughts. Although he has no body, nor sensation, He is exactly aware of how we and animals feel pain and pleasure. He Himself may not experience pain, but He knows and is aware of what we experience when we feel pain. Why? Because He is the Creator. He created our sense powers, including what they can perceive and actually perceive.

God is awesome!

I hope that helps.

We err when we anthropomorphize God. But, what else can we do, being such limited, broken creatures?

God is existence. He just is.

We are conscious in the ways you describe( qualia, etc.).
In classic theology, GOD is the pure act of being. Ineffable. Simple.
Over time there has been apophatic theology and it is also reasoned that he is responsible for existence as well as sustaining existence moment to moment. In addition, since we have consciousness, consciousness must emanate from him and therefore he possessed it so as to provide for it’s existence.
I think it gets hairy and speculative to try and pin down what is ineffable, beyond those things that are our own atributes.

God is ineffable. Jesus Christ has both human and divine natures so has qualia at least like a human in addition to divine knowledge. We do not know the extent of qualia that the glorified body perceives.

" Is God a closed mind ? "

Never. The Entire Sacred Scriptures reveal to those with Faith - God’s Mind as far as His intended Revelation of Him to Man. .

PLUS?

From Scriptures we know that God seeks for us to strive toward having a temper of Mind such as Jesus has - and which in turn - is a perfect mirror of God The Father’s Mind.

Just as those who’ve trusted and learned from their Earthly fathers experience Knowledge, Those who engage with God at the Reason and Spiritual levels - experience this .

That said, Faith - which demands a jumping into unknown unproven territory so to speak - along with Reason via ‘seeing’ the kernal core of any Noumena - Versus seeking via Proof - is/are the avenues by which to Realize this.
