I’m wondering how each of you has seen God’s humor manifest?
There have been so many neat responses (a platypusGod’s humor:
I was crying (very unhappy about a few things), and after a few moments realized it was a little too quite—eerie when you have a fifteen month old toddling about. I called her name out and I heard a distant voice that sounded like it was coming from the food pantry…I opened the door, and she had dropped the flour bin all over her head and was eatting a chocolate brownie. There was pasta and rice grains scattered also. She was a mess! She looked up at me and “asked”-- "Yaa Yaa?? as she reached out to give me some brownie —her way of asking me if I wanted someawwwwwww (all the rest were on the floor too, spilled from their bin )
I didn’t have time to cry all afternoon long cuz I had to bathe her and mop the pantry floor…clean the cabinet doors, the shelves…flour, rice and pasta gets everywhere!
It’s only funny if St. Anthony reimburses you for the steak!A few weeks ago, it became apparent that my 9 year old son’s misplaced Ninetendo DS (a handheld video game) was actually lost. We had a long talk about reponsibility and I was really upset at him (and myself). After the kids went to bed I was tearing the house apart to find it and I remembered to say a prayer to St. Anthony. I went to the computer to look it up quickly, said the prayer, and began looking again - fully convinced I would find it.
Well, what I DID find (in my wife’s car from the day before) was the steak I bought for dinner that I thought I left at the store! In the midst of my anger and frustration all I could picture was St. Anthony and God looking down on me, smiling. It was very funny to me and made me smile!
When my dd went to kindergarten the first time (and on the bus, too) I cried and cried, too. But I didn’t go turn on the radio - that’s funny.Just a few weeks ago, I sent my youngest dd off to kindergarten. This one was really hard for me because it was just the two of us for the last few years while the older two were in school. I was really having a hard time letting go of our special time together during the day.
I wanted to take her to school so I could take pics but she insisted on riding the bus. So I let her get on the bus and then hopped in the van to meet her up at school. As soon as she got on that bus and pulled away, I started sobbing. I really didn’t expect to sob like that, but once reality hit the tears started flowing. So, I get in the van and I’m driving down the road (still sobbing), following her bus, telling Jesus all about my baby growing up and how much I’m going to miss her etc. etc. So, I turn on the radio and the tune on the radio is saying “She’s a big girl now…and big girls don’t cry…”.
I chuckled and said “That’s NOT funny Jesus!”.![]()
I can just imagine hime dryly saying thisI had a professor once who claimed that the basset hound was the only evidence ever needed that God had a sense of humor.
so true! thanks for this thread—it is a praising of God’s Humor! tahnks to the Lord for theses things–I can’t wait to spend Eternity(hopefullyThere have been so many neat responses (a platypus) but I must say Lisa Annette, a fifteen m.o. really shows His humor!

I disagree I think cats are hysterical!!I can just imagine hime dryly saying this
I know cats aren’t that funny, but if you interject what they* might *be thinking, that’s funny. Mine jumped so high in the air off the washing machine when it started to get unbalanced (you know— that banging sound??) IN A HURRY with her ears pasted back to her head—I KNOW she was scared, but after she jumped some feet in the air, she landed cool-ly on her feet, and promptly began licking herself, as if to say"Yeah, I meant to do that…"
There is so much humor when you look around—so much simple joy to embrace. It is not easy to lose your head in too much sadness if you just notice and get a good belly laugh.
Well they say, The way to a person’s heart is through the stomach!I took a breath and in that moment that still small voice said, “Yeah and I make a mean souffle, too.” I’ve had a few experiences – dreams and such – that I’ve taken as God’s trying to impress joy on me instead of the seriousness I was reaching for at the time.
I’ve always heard God was quite a good cook. In fact one of the last acts attributed to Jesus in the Gospel of John was that He was cooking fish for the apostles after His resurrection.![]()
