I know this may seem trivial compared to some of the heavy stuff discussed here but this has really bugged me for a long time.

In your opinion, is the phrase “Oh my God!” a sin as described in the ten commandments? I am so tired and irritated hearing everybody from young children to oldsters repeat this thing over and over. And I won’t even get into the “OMG” or the much more offensive version used by just about everybody on the internet.

What do you think?

I do think it is a sin, because it is using the Lord’s name in vain.

By the way, it’s refreshing to see a question that won’t end in big arguments 🙂

The Church at some time back recommended us not to use Gods true name in order that we may not sin, by using his name in vain, that’s why we use his title. God is not a name it’s a title, but we should only use the title in reverence and respect when inference to the one and only true God.

Any way is it a sin, I think it may be.
