Gods Rules

My friend posed me this question and my answer was “by revelation but we all have free will to accept to live by Gods rules or deny them.” Can any one help me out? Thanks

ok so these rules about how god works: are they made by god? if so how can you prove that god made these rules? or are they all made by men who want to keep some kind of order in the world?

The basic rule is that we should love one another because we are all children of the same Father. How could we have free will, the capacity for love and be members of the same family if God did not exist? We would be just biological accidents which happen to exist for no reason or purpose…

The short answer to his questions is “yes”. GOD made them and yes, man uses them and add’s to them because they are good for keeping order.

The long answer would lie in his being open to reading the bible wherein you can show him the actual creation story of both sets of the stone tablets, The Ten Commandments. Then transition that to the US Supreme court, which I believe has a copy on the wall - or had a copy. Then transition that to history books that proclaim that most of man’s laws, dating back to the Magna Carta were founded on the Ten Commandments.
And end by illustrating that most of the laws in the US can be placed under one of the Ten Commandments by definition.

So, GOD gave them to us, we recognized the value and we added and codified them to our civil courts.

There is Natural Law which is inherent in every society, no matter what their belief system. It is instilled in us and no matter where you go stealing is still stealing and murder is still murder. It is in our nature because God is in our nature and we are made in His image.
