Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I hope you will find time to read a blog entry my husband posted today. There is such an urgency for more of us to hear God’s “still, small voice”!

Please feel free to comment at the blog directly, or on this thread, after you read the blog. Thanks, and prayers for each one of our readers! 🙂

Excellent post. In today’s world of sensory and information overload, silence and prayer are much needed. 👍👍

Excellent topic!

That passage in 1 Kings is one of my favorites! It is so true that in order to hear what the Lord has to say to us, we need to cultivate silence. A habit for silence can begin by shutting off car radios, television sets that are left on just to hear voices, arriving early and sitting in the Presence of the Lord before Mass begins, and trying a silent retreat if you have never done so before.

Peace,

Dorothy

MariaChristi,
Thank you for sharing your husband’s talents with us. This is only the second one I’ve read, but as a proponent of daily silence it speaks volumes to me. Be well.

Dear puzzledtoo,

Thanks for your reply. Thomas does have much “good news” to share on his blog. I hope you’ll visit again and browse for more. I shared your reply with him; he is always grateful for feedback.

Our times require more “interior silence” than ever!

Dear Dorothy,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, that quote from 1 Kings is one that resonates with many of us. I think I have always had a “yearning” for more silence than most in my family – still do! 🙂

Yet, I appreciate how Our Blessed Mother was a “contemplative in action”. She paid attention to persons and situations, as we read in John’s Gospel Chapter 2, about her role at Cana. Mary was not “afraid” to speak to Jesus or the servants. She saw the need and so she spoke the truth lovingly. Mary is both Mother and Model for all of us.

Silence helps us to listen, and by God’s Grace we learn in silence to hear the Truth He speaks to us. Once we have heard His Truth – then we need to keep praying for wisdom to respond to Him, “Lord, here I am; what would you have me do? I come to do Your Will.”

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your Faithful as You filled Mary, with Your Love.
Jesus, I trust in You.
Mary, Mother and Model of the Church, pray for us.

Dear RPRPsych,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, how very much we need silence and prayer! May we cooperate with each invitation God gives us to enter into that interior silence in which we may find Him!
