God's voice, God's will

How do you know what his will is? How does he reveal it you?

spend time reading and comtemplating the Bible. God’s word is there. God’s will is there.

thank you to everyone for your answers. i am a bit surprised though, because everything else in our church seems so well regimented and defined. we have exact rules for sacraments, all sorts of canon laws, etc., but we do not really have a defined way of actually interacting with God. from the answers i have received it seems pretty random and hit or miss. apparently God chooses to talk to some people, and not others. i guess i am just one of those He does not talk to. anyway, thanks again.

If you’re not sure what to do, well then do SOMETHING. God will let you know whether you’re moving in the right direction.

this is probably the best advice i have received, and you are right that a person must make a choice eventually. i guess i am just not sure HOW God will let me know if i am on the wrong path, and i do not want to mistake my will (or someone else’s) for His. it is difficult for me to trust God when i do not know what His will is for me in particular (most) situations.

Just remember, we walk by faith, and not by sight. We fulfil God’s will for by choosing to keep his commands, by loving God and loving one another one moment at a time.

That’s not necessarily to know exactly what a mission is. Indeed, it may be against God’s Will for you to precisely know what has been set for you. It may compromise the “test” of life. If we knew exactly what God expects, it would make the “test” easier" (and make no mistake: life is a constant test).

At the same time, we are not to dwell on what the mission is so much as fulfilling it according to its time. We are not to rush into what we think our mission may be. We are safest and most effective when we simply pray to do God’s Will every moment.

i am just so uncomfortable not knowing if the path i have chosen is the way to hell or heaven. eternal life is too precious to gamble with, and i don’t want to roll the dice and get burned. thanks for the article, i will read that today
