Something to remember about God’s ways is that they always appear to be in the throes of death. All hope seems lost, despair is imminent. Yet the man who trusts in God carries on fearlessly. The reason God’s ways always appear to man to be in the thores of death is threefold: first, to teach man to trust in God, who pours mercy on the lowly; second, to teach man that God is Salvation, for life is always a hopeless fleet in a world of darkness, yet God is our Rock and our Salvation and our Light; third, to teach man that, in the end, when all hope seems lost, there will still be hope, for man’s hope is God; therefore, let man trust in his Salvation.
To man, God’s ways appear ridiculous and vain and fruitless, yet God is outside of time, and He knows what His works are to accomplish, for in His Eyes, they have already born good fruit and accomplished what they were meant to do. And not only that but God is goodness itself, so how can He fail is His work? Evil is the very abscence of good, the abscence of God, and so God is much stronger than evil, just by His own Self; hence, nothing can ruin God’s ways. And what is more, God is not only outside of time, but, by virtue of the Mysteries of Jesus (most especially His Incarnation), He is united to every soul and journeys along with every soul through its life, the true Friend and Companion of men. And the man who gives himself over to God as His King and God will share in the fruit of God’s ways and will never be lost, for he will always be on the right path - even if the accomplishment of God’s Will in the soul appears to be in the throes of death.
