I did a search of the television news and newspapers for the Birmingham area found no such claim. Again, I have not seen anything like that in a very long time. Please cite your source and provide a link so we can check it out for ourselves.
Come to Birmingham and watch the local news?🤷 Just a few weeks ago there was a shooting and a lady said that it must have been God’s will, while being interviewed outside of the house where it happened. This has NOTHING to do with my original post, BTW. You are just being argumentative. You’ve been here since 2005. Stay on topic or don’t contribute.

All of the television stations have their stories on line. I’ve searched for it and haven’t found anyone saying that. I have noticed that the number of instances of people just making stories up is on the rise. No offense, but I am doubting the premise of your argument. However, I am open to evidence if you will just indicate what station, date, and time.

What does this have to do with me not understanding God’s will? I didn’t make anything up. If you can’t help with the whole God’s Will thing, you know, the SUBJECT OF THE THREAD, then I’m going to just put you on my ignore list.

Never mind, you have called me a liar and I’m not going to deal with you any longer, on the list you go. Adiós!

Hi Kendra, I am so sorry to hear your situation. I am divorced now 18 months after 26 years of marriage. My spouse, just wanted to be alone… divorce took 2 1/2 years and she lived in the same house with no fights at all during that time. Prayed, prayed more… got mad, Here is what finally allowed me begin to live… It it coming up again so you can do the same… On Good Friday there is normally a service where the cross is venerated, we use a Huge cross in my parish so I literally hugged it and told Jesus that I was leaving the pain of my divorce with Him. For the next year and 1/2 if I ever started feeling sorry for myself, someone appeared, called or somehow showed up (normally in person…) to remind me how blessed I was within 15 minutes… after that it went to 30 minutes … I mean every time… .

Ok on to God’s will. I finally realized that God’s will remains constant… He wants us to CHOOSE to fully follow his teachings and be with him for eternity. He wants us to love him back. Since He loves us so much we have free will. We can choose to wander from His will and think we know better (sin). Sometimes when we wander it affects others too. God’s will is always the same… we just get sidetracked by our choices, not His path. I have also come to believe that most of the time things happen that seem like bad things happen to good people it isn’t about them at all… it is about those that watch them as they deal with the situation. God/Jesus speak of “Peace” not happiness while we are here. We are told many times we will suffer… here. God wanted us in the Garden of Eden forever… We chose badly… been down hill ever since. God is hoping we return… he gives us chances through out the bible… and we (Humans) keep thinking we know better than God… Danger now is those that believe in God and feel He thinks just like they do… Jesus will understand…

One other thought that I am convinced is true for me… might help, might not… If God allowed this divorce to happen to get me on track to spend eternity with Him… He is a VERY loving God. Eternity is much more important than here… Of course I pray every night for my exwife and know I am still married, no matter what she or the state thinks…
I also pray for the Holy Spirit to open her heart to reconciling… Of course, His will be done, not mine… I also have come to realize my part in the failing of my marriage. It never is one sided, never… Can’t change that … but I can change my tomorrow. I pray you find peace. I pray for your marriage to be restored. Trust… Let Jesus help you carry the pain…refuse to take it back when tempted (He will let you… free will)…Know that He feels every tear and wants you to talk to Him. Really talk… let Him know respectfully how you feel… ask Him the tough questions…It is OK to be upset with how things are. He already knows how you feel… He may just be waiting for you to come to Him and turn over you situation to Him completely. He will give you peace. I promise. I still hurt but I also know I am doing everything I can to restore my marriage. Will it be restored? God knows… but I also know I am closer to Him and He is becoming the center of my life… Much work to do there… Trust Him… He promised He would be with us in the tough times if we were faithful… Mark Hart has a great talk on “You promised”… where he really holds God to His word… God can handle it…trust Him… refuse to take it back…

Kendra, I am no theologian, just a guy, albeit one who’s following your situation and wishes I could help.

I have given this topic some though. Personally, I genuinely believe God has plans, tasks, etc., for each of us. Sometimes those tasks are harder than others, depending on our abilities: To whom much is given much is expected. I think there is some purpose(s) to our lives; as to myself, I speculate that one task is to be a good provider/husband/dad to my family, rather than achieve some great task myself. I also know the “enemy” tries to get each of us to not fulfill our tasks; and to not achieve things God wants for us, or from us. Much like the “choose your own adventure” books, the choices we make put us onto divergent paths, which can nonetheless lead to better or worse endings, depending on our choices - and our tasks may change depending on the choices we make along the way.

And unlike such books, in life there’s always the possibility of a happy ending.

In this massive crashing symphony where every life touches other lives, God has a tether to every human heart, and He sees us; encourages us; and, like a teacher who puts some kids in the gifted class and sends others for remedial help, He’s still there behind the scenes at all times.

Sadly, we have little true insight in this world - *but we’ll know in the next *- whether the proverbial “death of person X” was caused by an evil act, or was simply allowed by God as part of life because that person’s tasks had been completed. I speculate that the tasks we now think of as being the important things were actually mundane, and instead our tasks maybe were to say a particular thing to a particular person we’ve already forgotten about ever meeting, or related to someone we’ve never met.

I would encourage you to pray that maybe this “stuff” in your life could be because something better will occur down the road; maybe you gain some wisdom or understanding that you’ll use to help others; maybe there is some person out there God wants you to meet a few years from now, etc.

Just my $0.02.

To even attempt to cure a disease, one must have the faith that it can be done.
To cure a disease, one needs an experiment. One can not have faith in their pet idea for the experiment to fly.
Never start with a conclusion and work backwards.
That is faith. Not science.
