Good morning!

Tomorrow at 11:00 AM, I am going back to Confession after 5 years! I’m overjoyed that God brought me back to Him, but I’m also very nervous. I carry the cross of scrupulosity, which is a big reason why I fell away in the first place - the anxiety of scruples led me to erroneously believe that if I couldn’t do it perfectly, Catholicism just wasn’t for me. God has been so patient in waiting for me to realize that with His help, I can manage my scruples and come back to Church. I’m simultaneously excited and terrified. Please remember me in your prayers!

Thank you,

Katherine

Holy Spirit, thank you for inspiring Katherine to return to the sacrament of Reconciliation.
Dear Jesus, please help her to make a good confession and protect her from all anxiety as she prepares her examination of conscience and makes her confession. Please help her be just as calm as if You Yourself were sitting in the confessional welcoming her with all Your love and grace.
Please give the priest hearing the confession special grace to say just the right things to keep her coming back as well.
I thank You especially, Dear Jesus, for helping me with this when I had been away from confession for many years and I have confidence you will help Katherine as well.

Dear Blessed Mother Mary and St. Joseph, Please pray for Katherine.
St. John Nepomucene, please also pray for Katherine.

+Hail Mary

In Jesus’ Name I humbly pray. Amen.

Glad to hear you’re going back! Just remember, if you deal with scruples, that the confessional doesn’t demand we give a perfect recitation of our sins. It just demands that we try to be thorough, and don’t deliberately leave anything out. But if you do your best to give a good confession, be at peace. If you remember something later, then that’s fine. It’s already been covered. Mention it at your next confession, but as long as you do your best then your confession is valid and covers everything.

Thank you both for your prayers!

Yes, one of my main causes of anxiety right now is making sure that I do it perfectly, and I logically understand that I just need to give it my best effort, and not give into the temptation of feeling that I failed and was not forgiven if I unintentionally forgot something. The strong emotional nature of scruples makes that difficult, but I’m trusting that God will help me with that part.

🙂

Praying for your intentions & to make a good Confession. Remember, you’re not going to be telling the Priest anything he probably hasn’t heard before. God bless.

Welcome back. Remember that God still pursues us even when during times when we do not pursue Him.

Praying for you!

I went back after nearly 50 years. Took a real burden off my mind and my soul! You’ve reminded me it’s time to return! Good luck!

O God, to show us where innocence leads,
you made the soul of your virgin Saint Scholastica
soar to heaven like a dove in flight.
Grant through her merits and her prayers
that we may so live in innocence
as to attain to joys everlasting.
This we ask through our Lord.
Amen.

It is heartening indeed, to see someone returning to the Sacrament of Confession after such an hiatus. That’s exactly why we have sacramental confession, because we aren’t perfect.

Praying for you to have a good confession, and that the Holy Spirit will descend upon you in the confessional.

Don,t be afraid, just go and tell Jesus your faults, he LOVES you, then receive him into your Heart.AMEN:signofcross::gopray2::angel1::harp:❤️

Welcome back! I will certainly pray for you. I will say a special prayer tomorrow when I will be giving praise, thanks, and petition to God during my hour before the Blessed Sacrament. (8 - 9 AM).

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace.
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
As it was in the beginning,
is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Divine Mercy Chaplet

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Prayer to Bl. John Fenwick and Bl. John Gavan

Blessed John Fenwick and Blessed John Gavan, you lived in England when it was a perilous time to be a Catholic. Thus you both were implicated in the frenzy that came after the Popish Plot. Though King Charles knew you to be innocent, he still went forward with the charges, commuting them down to simply a hanging instead of also being drawn and quartered. Like Jesus, you were both convicted of a crime though you were innocent and both of you died for your faith.

Blesseds John Fenwick and Gavan, please pray for those of us still in this exile, that we may show the courage and faith that you did. I also ask you humbly to please pray for the intentions posted on this forum, for my family and friends, for people who have asked for my prayers, and for the faithfully departed. On this your feast day, please intercede mightily with God for us, and beg Him to have mercy on our failings, so that despite our weakness, we may join you both in heaven we pray with you through Christ our Lord, and with the Blessed Mother. Amen.
