Hi there: Sorry if this is a silly question.

If a Roman Catholic decides to become, say, Melkite Catholic; do they keep their patron saint?

Afaik, yes. They’d still be Catholic; they aren’t “converting” to another faith, just translating from one rite to another within the Catholic Church (if indeed they are making that a formal change); and… their patron won’t abandon them ;).

Now, it might be different if they were converting from Catholicism to the Orthodox Church or vice versa, and their patron saint is not a pre-schism saint venerated by all of us.
