I’m in Cuernavaca for 12 weeks and, while everyone is really nice here, this hole place seems so liberal. Mariachi masses etc. Are there any FSSP churches in Cuernavaca? Or at least can someone reccomend a parish or something.

From what I found on their international website, the SSPX has a mission at Jasmin N° 17 near the city center of Cuernavaca. You can view the interactive map, here.

You can choose “Mexico” on the drop-down menu and then your city. It seems that the church is on Ent Al Hotel de La Selva near where it dead-ends into Vicente Guerrero (also called “Plan de Ayala” farther south). I’m not sure of the mass times, but the phone number listed on the map is as follows: +52 77 71 00 00 79 (or 55 55 47 4324).

While I generally recommend approved traditional masses where possible, it seems that this is not available to you, and you are not receiving even a legitimate Novus Ordo.

I’d rather not implicitly support an irregular organization, even though I realize that I could in theory attend.

There is actually a parish within walking distance from my host family, and other than the trendy music it’s pretty good. From what I heard, the homily was actually rather meaty.

While I’m normally in favor of vernacular masses, I’m now really feeling the reason why they used to say Latin bound all catholics together.
