I’m wondering if anyone has words of wisdom, support, or can just hold my hand? I feel like I can’t talk to many about this in real life and it’s not even MY story to tell.
Long story short, My husband is Catholic. We were married in my church (I was raised Lutheran.) We’ve been married 11 years now and have three kids in Catholic school. I have grown to love Catholicism and decided, after much deliberation to become Catholic.
As I began my RCIA classes I realized there was a snag. Unfortunately, my husband was married before we met. She left during the honeymoon and that was that. She didn’t even show up for the divorce, which he filed for less than a year after they got married. This never came up-while I knew his history it had no bearing on our life together. It still wouldn’t, except that I cannot be welcomed into the church until this is rectified.
From what I’ve been told there’s no reason he wouldn’t be granted the annulment. We’re in the process of filling out the paperwork now and I have to say I wasn’t prepared for how difficult it would be.
I would really love to talk to someone who has gone through this before. Thank you so much.
