Hello everyone I will be attending a Greek Catholic Ukrainian liturgy this Sunday in my neighbouring city of Dublin for the first time, and I was wondering what to expect? is it different from the Roman Liturgy? is it longer, shorter? how does it differ?

your response would be much appreciated

God bless

This question is often asked here. (Did you try a search?) I am sure others will answer in more detail, but I think you will find the Greek Liturgy much different, outwardly, that the current Roman Liturgy. In fact, I suspect you will be quite moved by it! That being said, the general “outline” is the same-a Liturgy of the Word, followed by the Liturgy of the Eucharist (although I’m not sure if Greek Catholics demarcate it along those lines;in fact, the Liturgy seems a whole lot more seamless). I just remembered a new website that has lots of clips of eastern liturgies. Try www.oltv.tv and click on Liturgies:thumbsup: Oh, just another thought. A good number of the Liturgies on that sight are not celebrated in Eastern Churches, so there are no Iconstasis in them.
God Bless, Pakesh

It may be longer. Dress nicely, at least we try in Canada, and see this thread posted not too long ago: forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=449533

I think they use Slavonic in Dublin for The Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysotsom. Sunday 4PM at the Pro-Cathedral, Saint Kevin’s Oratory. It should be an hour long, or more, depending upon if all the options are taken or not, and how long the readings and chants are that particular day. Expect incense and chants and frequent sign of the cross and bowing.

The following are not the Ukrainian version but are interesting. The first link will give you an English version study of the Divine Liturgy.

May a Latin Catholic receive Holy Communion in a Greek Catholic, or Melkite church?
