Going to Confession Without Attending the Daily Mass?

I know a parish that I go to on Friday for daily Mass and confession. I like attending the daily Mass, but sometimes I commit sins earlier in the week. I would like to confess these sins, but I don’t have any time to attend daily Mass during the week except for Friday because I am going to college. Any suggestions?

First, if you only want to go to the Confession afterwards, that’s fine. You’re not obligated to go to the Mass prior to it. Second, you could always go to the mass and just not receive communion if you know you committed a mortal sin, and then just go to Confession afterwards.

I’m not sure what else I can recommend besides “then don’t sin!” which is just silly and recommending you find a confession time prior to Friday daily mass, which you’ve probably already looked into.

Thanks for the reply! The one of the two parishes I attend (which isn’t my main parish which I go on Sunday to, I usually go there on Friday morning for Daily Mass and confession) websites advertise (I don’t know if this is the appropriate word :o) after Mass confession. The Priest at that parish allows me to arrive early and have confession before the Mass which is nice.

I actually asked the Priest at my main parish if I could have a confession this morning and he said it was fine. I should be good to go unless I fall again (which I hope I won’t, but my biggest shortcomings, gossip and lying, are unfortunately hard to stop.)

Be sure to ask your priest when you confess if these sins constitute mortal sin for you. It is a good practice to confess venial sins to be sure, but it would be good to get clarification nonetheless.

There is no requirement to attend daily Mass. it is ok to get confessed only.

You’re under no obligation to attend daily mass. Certainly you can go to confession and not stay for the Mass if your schedule is tight.

Not to get too personal, but gossip and lying once caused a very difficult time for me a long time ago. Someone gossiped to me about what my family said behind my back and it nearly cost me my family.

I never did find out why this person did it.
