Going to mass more than once in a day

You’re allowed to go to multiple Masses each day, but you can only receive a maximum of two Holy Communions per day.

What the priest thinks is irrelevant.

You don’t want to use Mass as some sort of feel-good substitute for learning to be happy in regular daily life though.

No,i dont plan to recieve Communion just to distract myself and dont feel afraid of sin

What could be wrong with going to Mass multiple times in the day? It’s a wonderful thing to do. I think it was Padre Pio (or perhaps it was someone else) who once said that attending a Mass during you life is worth far more than Masses said for you after you are dead.

As for taking Communion, my understanding is that taking Communion twice in one day is only for special circumstances. Personally I’d normally only take Communion once in a day and only if I’m in a state of grace.

But attend as many Masses a day as you wish, the more the better.

Will priests consider the person crazy/out of their mind?
You are in India, right? What your Priest says matters. Please maintain the strict Indian Catholic values.

Ask your Priest what is appropriate.

I understand what you are saying @Kts1816 there was a time when my life was structured around daily attendance of the mass. As you probably know your “spiritual life” and your personal relationship with Our Lord Jesus Christ evolve over time and you are probably at a point in your own pilgrimage.

I understand that attending mass I very pleasing and yes attendance helps us avoid sin it is a much better and holier activity than many others.

But please, consider that you are supposed -in your own time, sometime in the future- to find happiness and fulfillment in most if not all daily aspects of your life and with yourself. I wish you that you find peace and grow closer to Jesus in your daily life that you are permanently in His company and strengthened by Him can resist sin and be happy throughout the day.

Please, discuss your sadness with a priest and I hope he will guide you towards Jesus that you may be strengthened. The priest should not find it strange that you attend more than one mass a day. Most priests should understand your need and will. However, it is not easy to give spiritual guidance.

Please, try to understand that in meeting with Jesus the mass is the privileged place but you should not rely on the mass as a occupation of time or a means that simply avoids you sinning by being physically occupied and having your time taken up. You appreciate, I hope, that the mass is a means to an end, and the end is Our Lord Jesus. In the meanwhile, don’t feel bad about going to mass, at least if you find relieve there it surely is a much better activity than most others yet be reminded that you need to continue work and battle with all aspects of your daily life. Please, talk with a priest about this when you can.

God bless you on your pilgrimage @Kts1816

What about?
Are you in India?
Yes what a Priest says or thinks matters.

I happen to have a couple of Indian Priests who tell me what the differences are between Catholic values in India and the west. You would know what I mean if you had a comparison.

I’ve gone to Mass twice a day quite a few times lately. There is morning Mass and then a 5:30 pm Mass at another parish, both within 5 minutes of me.

And yes, sometimes it is for no other reason than to give myself a 2nd charge of consolation and energy.

Why would the priest think I’m crazy? It’s not my fault my pet snail talks to me. It has an outgoing personality.

I will occasionally go to two Masses in one day at two different churches (I just did this yesterday) but once or twice I just sat through two Masses in the same church. I think two different priests said the Masses, so they wouldn’t have even noticed I was at two of them.

There are situations in which it would actually not be advisable to attend Mass multiple times in a single day, such as if doing so means you would be unable to fulfill an important duty. If, for example, you are a parent, a student, and/or employed, you should not neglect the responsibilities associated with those roles in order to attend a second/third/fourth etc. Mass. If a priest is aware you are doing so, he may correctly choose to intervene. What the priest thinks is not always irrelevant.
