Going to meet Scott Hahn

Well, I know it isn’t technically a discussion about anything, but I’m going to go hear Scott Hahn speak tomorrow (April 20) on the Eucharist. Its really exciting for me as a fellow Grove City College grad and as a Christian on the way home to Rome. I’m going to get a chance to meet him too after the lecture, which is doubly exciting! I figure it will be like “The Lamb’s Supper” in lecture form (which is good for me because I haven’t had a chance to read the book yet).
 
Scott Hahn is great!! I’ve never had the opportunity to see him, but when I watch him on EWTN he always seemed really excited about everything he’s talking about. He’s got such enthusiasm and zeal for the faith. I could listen to him talk for hours.👍

Scott Hahn is a blessing for the Church these days when there’s so much dissent, both from within and without. It’s great you’ll meet him. I hope one day he gets to visit our country as well.

When I joined our new parish, our Wonderful Pastor gave me tapes and books by Scott Hahn for my Prebyterian Husband.
My hubby attended his first Holy Mass last week!

Wow…if you ever are within 100 miles of a Scott Hahn lecture…GO! The man is absolutely on fire for Christ and is able to speak so deeply and so lucidly about the faith that his completely understandable, yet amazingly profound at the same time. I cannot tell you how much of an encouragement it is to see a man so completely committed to the Church after such a significant history in Presbyterianism, especially for one like me who is struggling on the road to Rome.

I got to talk to him for like 20 minutes after the lecture; and he is extremely personable and offered some great advice. He even asked me to keep in touch!😃

The man is a great asset to the Church, and I pray that God will raise up more contagiously enthusiastic orthodox apologists like him.

I was very disappointed to see virtually no GCC theology professors at the lecture. You would think they would want to hear the school’s most distinguished theologian??? What an interesting commentary on these guys…they loved to attack Catholicism in the GCC class room where the kids don’t know any better…but shy away in a public forum where, frankly, they can’t compete with Hahn.
 
He is absolutely my favorite speaker and writer. He can explain the most difficult theology with amazing simplicity. I would love to see him in person. I bet he is genuine and friendly like he appears.

His wife has a gift too. She is also a gift to our faith.

I’m green with envy.
 
I had the pleasure of meeting both Scott and Kimberly Hahn after they spoke in Kerrville, Texas last year.

It was worth the drive to listen to them!

I agree, it was an excellent talk. I know what you mean, I heard that some of the religion department faculty were ticked off that Hahn was allowed a forum like that on-campus (I’m an '04 grad myself). I did see a few theology/philosophy profs there, including Dr. Trammell and Dr. Kemeny, who said it was the “best theology lecture” he had seen on campus since he came on staff there.

I do think they would be(and should be :D)scared to go up against Hahn though, the man is absolutely brilliant. It does make me sad to look back and think about the snide anti-Catholic comments that went unchallenged and probably unnoticed by all but the Catholic students in class.

You should read the latest edition of the Collegian on-line. There are a few letters to the editor and an “op-ed” piece regarding the talk that is somewhat incoherent.

Good for Kemeny. And I’m sure Trammel had him as a student.

It is a sad commentary that there was protest to his coming? What is wrong with an open discussion of ideas? Surely if Catholicism is as erroneous as our professors implied, they could have summarily dismissed all of Hahn’s arguments.

Also, is it your sense that there are a lot of converts on campus thanks to the work of the Newman Club? The Collegian seems to suggest that.
