Yes, Mary was a very faithful servant of the Lord. She is not a devine being. You asked why Catholics believe her to be the new Ark. Luke saw her as the new Ark as demonstraited in the choice of words with respect to the visitation posted above. Add to that list Revelation 11 and 12 where the Ark is seen in heaven followed by the woman “clothed in the sun” giving birth to a male child “one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron”. Another connection between Mary and the Ark.
